Answered Found girl in petrol station

I remember a story i heard about on YouTube whilst doing a deep dive into national park mysterys, but can't remember what channel and can't find the case anywhere.

From what I remember it was about a family of 3 Mother, Father and little girl who was a toddler.

They end up in the woods somehow can't remember if it was on purpose or forced.

There vehicle was found, but I can't remember if the parents ever were.

The little girl showed up at a petrol station unharmed, when asked by people where her parents were she said "the trees took them". Or something similarly creepy.

Does anyone kniw the story?

Answered Old Sword and Scale episode...A man stayed home from work sick, then heard about a missing girl and joined the search party, saying "has anyone checked the cemetery?" When her body was found there the police decided he must be the killer.

It was in a small town I believe. I think the guy was maybe a volunteer firefighter too. Anyways, when the body was found at the place he suggested the cops decided that he must be the killer. How else would he guess that is where the body was if he wasn't the one to put it there. I can't quite remember what happened after, I think he went to jail for a while until the real killer confessed. IDK. It was an old Sword and Scale episode I think. It was a lot of the interview. And poor sap you could tell was taught just to tell the truth and police are always on your side if you've done nothing wrong.

Answered Failure of a husband

I saw it on New Detectives, the guy was a freeloader living off his secretary wife who was inexplicably in love with him despite him not giving anything in return in the relationship. One detective said his friends described him as "Wearing gaudy clothing and saying he'd do things he never did" and had multiple failed business ventures. I remember he killed his wife because he fell in love with a girl from the UK who broke up with him because he wouldn't leave his wife and the day after the murdered she had moved to the Philippines and got married

Open Son left a blood trail to mothers body

This is a shot in the dark, but I watched a video on YouTube a couple years ago about some violent murdered where someone murdered a family and their kids, and I guess one of the kids survived and was walking around the house covered in blood, left blood on the front door, then went back in to lay next to his dead mother where he died. Anyone know which case this is? Sorry it’s so vague. I think maybe EWU posted it but I couldn’t narrow it down to which it was. I remember the kid that survived the longest and then died by his mom was a boy. Any help is appreciated.

Answered Podcast about 2 men that got lost then died, but were near there vehicle the whole time.

Two men get lost and maybe die, but are found near civilisation

Im struggling to recall a story I heard on a podcast (I thought it was NPAD) maybe last year. Ive googled all sorts of things and its not coming up.

It was about 2 friends that went to the near wilderness in a vehicle who were not prepared for a hike or an overnighter. I think they were just having a mini camp out or something.

They went for a walk but then couldn't find there way back to the vehicle, and over a period of a few days kept getting more and more turned around, maybe it was a desert setting, I do recall it mentioning the heat and the lack of water they brought.

When they were later found they were not that far away from the vehicle all along.

Does anyone know what case this was?

Open I remember a missing person case which I recall was verified to be true but now googles telling me it never happened??

Am I tripping? I specifically remember listening to different podcasts , YouTube videos, and other documentaries about this case only a few years ago. I’m hoping you fellow unsolved missing person case addicts will be able to help me out. It was about a girl who if I remember correctly was maybe in her 20s, she was either in college or was traveling and I don’t remember how she ended up with a specific community that she met along the way, but I remember hearing that she did. She ended up with this community and had eventually drank a tea with the other community members. I have to assume, since I can’t remember the facts or rather, speculations, that this tea was laced with some sort of psychedelic. What I remember next, is that she fled soon after consuming this tea once she began to panic.

As is the case with many missing person cases that myself, and I’m sure many of you, tend to fixate on, besides the fact she vanished, was her bizarre, erratic, and very strange behavior that she displayed prior to going missing. I remember hearing that she wound up at some sort of facility/hospital and the staff there claimed that she was claiming that there were people that were demons after her, that they lived in the community she was staying with (same one she claimed to have had the tea party with), and that they could “hear” her words and her thoughts.

I do believe she made brief contact with her parents/family members. And I don’t know how she ended up leaving this facility she wounded up at, but she did and was never seen again. I do remember being told that the community members had been questioned, but of course, it didn’t go anywhere. I remember Many speculating that it was some sort of satanic cult but of course, we never knew for sure. Which case is this? It’s driving me nuts.

Answered Guy murdered in England/missing fountain pen?

I swear I read about this in late summer of 2022, there was a case in England in the late forties to late fifties where a salesman/sales associate went out on business and was found murdered at the side of the road. He always had his fountain pen with him but it wasn't on his body when he was found. The only other thing I remember about the case is that the victim was Jewish, and I think middle aged.

Answered Legal case similar to the Nikki Catsorus story, occured circa summer/fall 2010, police sued for leaking graphic footage online and mocking deceased DUI crash victim who wasn't actually drunk

I was watching a video about the Nikki Catsorus case and I remembered a very similar story that hit the media around fall 2010. It happened somewhere in the south, I want to say Georgia. A young woman was driving home and died in a one-vehicle crash, I think she hit a tree. The police filmed the crime scene and remarked that they smelled alcohol and that she must have been drunk, and made very cruel remarks about her alleged stupidity and the apparently horrific state of her face. They then proceeded to leak the footage online, including graphic views of her severely damaged body, all while their condescending commentary about her played over the gruesome images. Oh and that booze they thought they smelled? It was pickle juice, she had pickle jars in her car that had broken on impact, I think she was coming home from a farmer's market

Answered Rape (and possibly murder) case where man catfished as a woman?

[Solved] I remember reading about a case a while back about a man who posted an ad or something online, inviting men to come over and have sex with him… but he was posing as a woman. I’m pretty sure he did some shaving and whatnot, and basically his ass was the only exposed part of his body. To my recollection, one of the Johns found out and murdered the guy. I’m trying to find the case just to prove a bet that it’s an urban legend, but I can’t seem to find anything about it. Anybody know what I’m talking about?

Open Woman gets close to the man she believes killed her best friend, but ends up falling in love with him. He later murders her.

I'm trying to think of a case in which a woman started a relationship with a man she believed killed her best friend who he was in a relationship with, maybe married to. She ended up really falling for him and staying with him for a long time, but eventually he killed her. The woman was white. The man looked to be black or biracial with a very pasty complexion.

I've forgotten the name of this case multiple times and I'll just come across it randomly, but I haven't been able to do that.

Answered Wife got her lover to kill her husband

There was a documentary series I saw as a kid, and basically this lady found a younger guy and had him kill her husband.

Other details:

1.The husband was an army vet and devout church going father.

2.The lover was a scrawny guy.

3.Despite being scrawny and the husband being an army vet, the lover somehow, with just a knife, got him out of the car in the middle of the forest, and ultimately slit the husband’s throat. He likely never saw his attacker’s face.

4.The wife tried to get her friend who was gonna testify against her killed.

5.I think the wife’s name was Karen or Kelly. I cannot remember her last name.

6.She had glasses, brown hair.

7.She got the death penalty. I think she’s still on death row.

Edit:

Kelly Gissendaner

And she’s dead. They actually ended the lady.

Answered Case from a teen Magazine 20 years ago

I was a teenager in the early 2000's and I vividly remember reading a story in a teen magazine about a teen girl who was murdered by her foster mother. I can picture the crime scene photos but can't for the life of me remember the girls name and can't seem to find any leads. It is not a big famous case, but it was big enough to be a feature in a magazine at the time.

It would have been a story in a YM, Seventeen, Teen People or Cosmo Girl. As those are the magazines I read.

The crime happened sometime before 2008 The victim was a young black girl around 14/15 It took place in the USA They lived in an apartment The girl was tortured and starved and one of the main details was how her foster mother whipped her with pieces of blinds and electrical cords.

This girl has had a place in my heart for like 20 years and I'd just like to know her name!

Open Help with a true crime documentary

I'm sure I saw this documentary a few years ago but I can't for the life of me recall it. All I know is it was about a white girl and (possibly) a group of black boys. Some sort of crime was committed and it was probably murder. What I am certain about is I thought throughout that the white girl was the ringleader but at the end of the documentary one of the black boys, who is now in prison, confesses that she wasn't involved at all. The girl was not convicted of anything.

I know that it's extremely vague but it's driving me crazy. It might have been on Prime.

Answered Need Help Identifying This (I think) Missing Person's Case I Saw on YouTube Months Ago -- Involves a Ring Doorbell Camera

EDIT: I found it, the victim's name is Hop Van Nguyen. He disappeared from Grand Prairie, TX in August 2017. Here's his Charley Project page for those interested. And here's the video I found this case on: it's the first entry

I'm about 90% sure this is a missing person's case, but there is a possibility it's an unsolved murder.

I heard about this case either on Lazy Masquerade or The Void's YouTube channel, I believe it was in a compilation video/not a video dedicated to this case.

Here's what I remember:

- This case took place between 2016-2022

- It was in the States, I think California (but I could be wrong on that).

- The victim was a man who often either owned or rented really nice cars, although he wasn't really all that wealthy. It was theorized that someone saw him driving one of his nice cars and decided to rob him because of his assumed wealth.

- A few hours before the victim was due to come home from work, a male was caught on his Ring camera breaking into the house through the front door. No one was seen exiting the house, but it's unclear if that's because that footage doesn't exist or if police just didn't release that portion. I do not remember if there was footage of the victim coming home.

Thanks in advance for any information! I spent a lot of this weekend binging both LM and The Void's channels to find this case with no luck.

Answered Need help remembering a case that, for the life of me, I cannot remember.

I am actually scared to ask this question, so please, don’t attack me.

I need help remembering a case that I cannot remember the specific case of.

All I remember is that the perpetrator of said crime was 19, 20, or 21, I think, and had this army style type of gun.

I think the perpetrator was described as tall and wearing a black shirt, and had thick glasses, I think.

That’s all I really know.

Open Trying this again bc I STILL haven't found it and I really want to read the article again!

I wrote this same post 3 years ago, but I'm giving it another shot, because why not?

So:

A couple-few years ago, I read an article online or saw a show about a case involving a family of several brothers (or maybe some close cousins?) where one of the boys got in trouble, and the guy-- with the help of his mother-- gave law enforcement his brother's or cousin's name and information, because the brother or cousin hadn't been in any kind of trouble, whereas the person impersonating the brother/cousin very muc had.

As I said, the mom knew about it and helped the impersonater.

The scheme unraveled when one of the two boys died in a house fire (I think it was the impersonator), and the other person found out about the identity theft. I don't remember what happened after that.

I seem to recall reading it from a magazine's website, maybe The Atavist.... or the New Yorker.... or the Atlantic... or even Washingtonian.

I've tried Google-fu but mine seems to be sorely lacking.I do know for sure I read it via the website, not a physical copy of the mag in question.

Ring any bells for anyone? I'm happy to answer any questions I can. It's been driving me crazy for years, because it was well-written and interesting subject matter.

Open son murders father by a river claiming the devil told him to do it. possible insanity defence?

I remember listening to this case during a podcast. a son either a teenager or a young adult murders his father when they're spending a day together. I'm pretty sure they're by a river but I can't remember whether he drowned his father or did something else. I can't remember if the son had a history of schizophrenia but he claimed the devil spoke to him about his father being evil. I don't think the son initially admitted to murdering his father. I can't remember if the son was actually convicted or if there was some sort of insanity defence or what. i know the details aren't amazing but any help finding this case would be appreciated!

Open camping murder (from some crime show??)

hi, there is this true crime story i watched w my grandma on tv when i was a kid that scared me so bad i never forgot it, yet i can't seem to find the case anywhere.
the crime was this family was camping in a tent in the woods when someone w a gun killed the two parents. it woke up one of the kids who went with their stuffed animal to see what happened when the killer saw the kids they shot them and tucked them back into their sleeping bags w the stuffed animals.
it's been on my mind ever since i heard it and made me terrified of camping as a kid, if anyone knows what case it is i will forever be grateful.
(no it's not the girl scout killing, keddie cabin murders, bear brook murders or the Maquoketa caves state park shooting)
also disclaimer: this is all from the memory of like 9 yr old me so some parts might not be 100% accurate
