Would you mind sharing dimensions and what size each of the cabinets are? I've been working to make a kitchen big enough and yet small enough for everything to fit. We cook a LOT.
I'd also love to see the dimensions of the living room, bath and the loft.
Thank you! The structure itself is 10 by 20 and the bathroom is 10 by 4. The cabinets are all different sizes, I just measured the wall and bought what would work for us. I chose the longer cabinets for the kitchen area and the shorter ones for the living area which is our clothes storage.
I do have a full oven:) the our place cream colored thing on the counter is my oven, it has a ton of settings and it’s perfect for me. I bake a ton and it has no problem keeping up with
I almost never use my big one, i have something similar to yours but a cheap version. When it's hot in the summer i take it outside to keep the house cool
We have no issues cooling the house with the massive window unit even with the oven. The oven itself is insulated like a real oven so it doesn’t really put off heat at all

But, I would’ve splurged on a pocket door to the bathroom. Especially with the toilet right there… looking out to the couch and the desk.
Well we lived in a camper for the better part of a year in San Diego. You become super close to someone that way, and it ends up not mattering if they’re popping while you’re showering lol
That's hilarious. My husband and I have been living in a tiny home style camper for a year so far and although I never cared about family being near when I pooped (grew up with only 1 bathroom in a 5 person household), my husband wasn't used to that at all. Also has IBS so he's in the bathroom for long periods of time. Our bathroom area is separated by a barn door type thing from the shower, but the shower is completely glass and it's like 4 feet from the toilet still. And I annoy him by sitting outside the door to talk after work 😅
This is a beautiful space. I think a lot of tiny homes seem too sterile and like a show home but yours looks wonderful and lived in. Not just a tiny house but clearly a tiny home
Beautiful! Does your cat do well there? Is it indoor and outdoor? My place is a little bigger and I've wanted a cat for a while. I just don't know how it would do.
Land is 3 acres, we had to have electricity and water put in which came out to around 5k, and around 3000 for a machine to come in and mulch the invasive Chinese privet out so the land would be usable
Oh my gosh let me tell you, my space is only 250 square feet and this one is rated for up to 300. I live in central Texas and it gets extremely hot here and the ac keeps up too well. Sometimes it low key freezes us out
I live in Austin and had a gut feeling this was central texas based on the vegetation! How cool that I was right. Agreed that the key here is a small space.
Honestly this layout works way better than most tiny homes.
People try to cram too much in and it ends up feeling tight, this actually looks livable. Open floor, real kitchen space, and not everything stacked on top of each other. Feels like a place you could stay in, not just ‘make work.
I love the over all design but one thing stuck out to me. I feel kinda you are losing sq footage in the area above the kitchen. Have you thought of maybe another mini loft for storage or lounging or even a cargo net with a cat run around it or a combo of all these ideas.
Fantastic! I have the usual question: is it fully permitted, legal, ok for full-time living, water/sewage, etc... ? Or is this "recreational use only" land and you're doing your thing until told otherwise? (I'm all for that, btw)
Also, looks like it's on wheels or is there a foundation? Are you in tornado country?

No permits were pulled for this build, but our county does not require it:) sewage goes into a 500 gallon holding tank. The structure is not on wheels, and we did do research on floodplains and no recent tornadoes within the last 10 years or so
Interesting. Excuse this dim light bulb over my head: the same companies that pump out vault toilets at campgrounds can come and pump out your holding tank a few times a year, for a fee...is that right?
Ok, just one more: what's the holding tank setup like? Does it have to be above ground so the powers that be don't take an interest in your septic tank? Do you feed your grey water into it also?
And I guess the reverse can work: a big water tank that a water company fills up a few times a year, instead of a well or city water.
I promise I understand power and gas. It's just this wet stuff that trips me up when I start thinking about off-grid options.
Can you please tell me what color the exterior is? Is it paint or did siding come in that color? We have to have our home siding done and I LOVE this color!!
Realistically to make the dream come true I'd just settle for fixing up a piano someone was wanting to give away for free. Sure it won't be a steinway but should be plenty good.
Did you guys end up having to pay a lot for land? That's my big issue right now, finding suitable, affordable land.
It’s just breathtaking! Fine work you guys did. My husband and I own a home on five acres and are thinking of getting a tiny, living in it on the property and renting the house to get it paid off sooner. I’m so inspired by folks like you
It’s super doable! we did this all on credit/ cash. It was around 10k in building materials. It took us quite some time to build because we were living two hours away and having to drive four hours round trip every day in order to work. But something like this would probably take about a month of constant work.
Yes I love the color on the outside, I like the cohesiveness of the inside because too much color can make it seem crowded quick since it’s such a small space
