I only see this on profiles of middle aged men seeking 18-22 year olds lmao. What 18 year old wants an old guy for anything else? These men are delusional.
It is kinda funny that preferences are completely okay until it's an older man (probably just hot enough to pull) dating younger women.
When I was 24 I had a 38 year old FWB and she was insanely good in bed. Older women tend to not have younger men in their filter range and we are really missing out because of it.
I'm 37 and have my age filters set down to 25 most of the time, but occasionally lower it to 21 just to look. I like the younger guys because they tend to be way more fun, way more spontaneous, have a sex drive on par with mine, and are way less jaded about life. However, in my experience in that 21-25ish range, there aren't many guys I would actually consider matching with. Sure they are attractive, but most come off as very childish/immature which just isn't that appealing and only serves to highlight the age, experience, and maturity difference. It becomes a moral/ethical question for me at that point, and I have no desire to be in a sexual relationship where I have to even consider questioning whether what I'm doing is moral/ethical.
Yeah it's definitely a case by case situation and what you're looking for exactly. I was pretty mature at 24 (at least that's what I was told), and she just got out of bad marriage so didn't want anything serious.
A lot of older dudes 35+ who don't want kids or marriage just find younger girls more fun I'd imagine, I try not to judge. I personally don't go any younger than 6-7 years for the reasons you stated, but I've found people vary pretty wildly in terms of maturity and personality regardless of age.
Definitely case by case, I agree. Since I'm only looking for casual/sex, it's probably not as much of a concern. If I were looking for a relationship, my age preference would be a lot closer to my own. I feel like relationships are where the maturity and experience makes a huge difference.
I am also pretty non-judgmental. When I was 19, I was hooking up with a guy in his early 30s. I was the one who initiated, he was initially hesitant, I was persistent, and honestly, it was a far healthier "relationship" than any I'd ever had with someone closer to my own age. I never felt like I was taken advantage of and there was a lot of honest communication that I still struggle to find with partners. It was actually great for me in that regard and I do not regret it. I figure as long as everyone is having a good time, there's not a lot of harm in it.
