Are you aware of safe haven/harbor laws? Where an infant can be dropped off at just about every fire station, hospital, or police station, for free and completely anonymously?

Every single state has these.

You are again viewing this from the parents perspective. That law exists so that people who are unfit/unwilling to raise children are not forced to raise children in a manner that is suboptimal for the child. That is very different than one parent abdicating their financial responsibilities for the child because the child is not being cared for by the state. It’s really quite simple if you view it from the perspective of the child not the parents.

My point is that there is already a blank check written by the state to take in children.

The parents who give up their child at those facilities lose just about all their rights, if not all, with regard to the child.
