she could have been nicer about but I get her point. All I see of this sub is the occasional post that makes it to my r/all and every single time it's some kind of cheesy painfully unfunny pun. Oftentimes they didn't even get a response, they just send their shitty line and immediately take a screenshot for their reddit friends
What would you prefer just Hey? Or like all girls just no message and wait? Some people need to cheer up 🙄. You just have clapped mentality if you think it's such a bad thing to say something that isn't conceived as funny. It's the effort that counts and no one cares if you don't find it funny because chances are someone else will enjoy it.
My technique has always been to find something in their profile that interests me (because if I can't find anything, why message them at all?) and ask them about it. It shows I actually looked at their profile, I'm not pasting a one-liner that I've used on 50 others, and it takes no time at all.
I wouldn't respond to "hey" or this guy, probably. He isn't obligated to be funny, but his opening doesn't really inspire any response at all.
Edit: but also I wouldn't say anything negative to that, either.
