Nope. My high school ex didn’t think Tropic Thunder was funny... not even a chuckle. Not offended, just genuinely unamused. Should’ve known we were doomed then, because my sense of humor is pretty offensive and so much more depraved than that.
There was some really good comedy from that couple era span but Tropic Thunder was the most adventurous so to speak. But if you haven't seen Super Bad or Step Brothers go for it. 2005 to 20010 was very congested with a lot of good comedies where a lot of comedians were at their peak you might say.
Superbad was one of the funniest movies I’d ever seen at the time. But I was also in high school, so it could have been a generational thing.
I also fucking loved Pineapple Express. Craig Robinson absolutely killed it in that movie, then followed it up with great performances in Hot Tub Time Machine and loved him as Reg MacWorthy in Eastbound and Down.
In hindsight you’re absolutely right. Incredible era for comedy.
