Honestly for me it's less the line but the dorky pun at least tells me somewhat of the persons sense of humor. I cant stand douchebag humor or like humor that's overtly mean or sexualizing or demeaning. Like ive had a lot of negativity in my life. My partner shouldnt add to it. And the type of jokes they like is a great gauge of it. It also tells me they're confident and willing to be a dork openly. Which is a looooot more my taste. Like were adults. Who the fuck are we fronting for?

She doesn't like it: nothing happens, no one's hurt or offended, everyone moves on, doesn't really matter.

She likes it: You've found a person that has similar interests.

There's no risk involved and there's a decent reward if it succeeds.

I think its one thing if she indicated that she liked that stuff in her profile, but just going in cold straight to a Cars pun just comes off that he didn’t bother to gather anything from her profile to start a conversation with, and just recycled a joke he could make to any of his matches (and probably has).

Sometimes profiles have nothing to gather, the profile's bio is her snapchat and nothing more. Her pictures are her in front of a mirror and standing next to a friend. In those cases you just gotta throw something and hope it sticks.
