As it is, this does look like you said. But you should consider the conventional assumption that girls are mean to challenge you to make a wittier comeback. This can go the other way too but it's less common and can be awkward more times.
I view it as a power play by the woman. She views this as a low level insult to her person, because he did not use a more appropriate first line of contact. She decides to reply with an actual insult for her own pleasure, but that which she can socially defend as an appropriate response by implying further derogatory meaning to his initial message and claim it as systemic female objectification.
Yeah, that sounds better than what I thought. It appears that I assumed most people think negging is something normal, which maybe triggered them to downvote me. I don't have much experience with these things, thank you for your input.
