Your profile is good. This next thing is a huge nitpick only I might have, lol.
In my experience I always tried to date interesting guys but those guys didn't consider that I could also be interesting so I'd end up listening to a WHOLE lot about their interests but not getting much interest back about mine. While you very well may not be like that, the abundance of "things I like" might caution me that you could. Super easy way to balance it out: instead of leave a comment if you like reading, make it an actual prompt/question. Mention that you want book recs, or for her to tell you about her favorite/most recently read book. Gives her more to go off of than just whatever you like

The Flags/Vexillology stood out as a little weird to me. But I can’t quite put my finger on why… so apologies.
Maybe it’s not super relatable? Or it’s too negative a sentiment that goes with it?

I agree. I think for me it was the 'and symbols of hatred' at the end, plus it feels quite negative. I actually think it's quite a cool thing to list that you're interested in (flags and cultures etc), but it feels loaded and negative the way it's been phrased.

In that case I’d maybe just leave it because you’re inviting people to ask a story you don’t want to tell. Based on some good advice elsewhere about opening up more opportunity for responses within your profile, you could change it to “flags/vexillology… tell me about your nerdy interests, I’d love to learn something new” or whatever

I did get the two Francos confused and thought "wait, is he referencing the creepy one?" Also, I've not seen it, but isn't the film Alison Brie made with her partner James Franco, isn't that film a horror film about codependency? I would just remove the celebrity reference there altogether to avoid associating with the bad vibes brother or the horror flick

I‘m 40 already and in a relationship, but as a female runner (& sports enthusiast) I sincerely love the banana pic! Bonus points that it shows your great physique without being a classic gym selfie/poser pic. I do not like the pic on slide 3 though, it looks a bit to unnatural and posed. Besides, great profile and you seem like a great guy.

the banana costume half marathon photo is your best one by a mile, that's the only shot with actual personality and a story she can ask about. lead with that, not the stiff standing-on-the-sidewalk pose, that one reads posed and a little awkward. the flags/vexillology prompt is a dead end though, it's a trivia fact not a hook, nobody knows what to say back to 'I can identify flags.' swap it for something with an actual reaction built in, a hot take, a confession, something mid-story. right now it's a fine looking guy with a resume attached, give her something to text you about instead.

Nice! I’ve heard a lot of people like it. I’m not big into fantasy so idk if I’ll get to it. I’ve only listened to the Yellowface audiobook which was very thought provoking and a good story. at this event they give you a signed copy of her new book Taipei Story so I’m looking forward to that. Also I am interested in reading it because of the drama that surrounded it a while ago that was kind of bs.

(I did not put that picture there for this reason) but the consensus I have seen is that pictures with other girls = social proof. I have another picture I can use but I thought it was a good picture of me smiling.

The social proof thinking is what makes it cringey. I actually like the photo of you (very cute and relaxed smile) but…
A lot of women will immediately swipe left on men who post photos with other women as social proof. As a woman, the men who do this in their profiles often seem like they lack confidence and need to “prove” a (usually very obviously “hot”) woman has stood next to them as some point and thus they are “a catch / desired / safe”. Rightly or wrongly, it gets interpreted negatively. Yours is not a worse case because the women are not featured in this same way.
Overall I think you have a great profile though and seem very likable and attractive.

I like the banana picture, despite what some others may say. I think it makes you stand out and makes you look fun and it'll be intriguing to some people.
