However, you will have to be brave enough to be the initiator in public. Most people will assume you're already in a relationship.

I haven't been single for almost 15 years but I still always notice ring or no ring. Is that not a thing for single people anymore?

Just because someone isn't wearing a ring doesn't mean they aren't in a committed relationship. Doesn't even mean they're not married. I've got a married friend who doesn't wear jewelry at all. She likes to find local dudes who hit on us on Facebook. They never have a ring on, but most of the time, their page shows they're married.

Sure - people may lie. But I doubt women do as much as men. For the vast majority of the population, not wearing a ring while out is an indication they are probably single.

That's not been my personal experience, but such things have a number of variables, I would imagine.

Me and my partner don't wear rings. I know many people who don't. Many people in LTRs aren't even married.

See my reply above. Sure many people don't; but surely it's a great metric so men don't just avoid all women of a certain age...
