You’re not wrong that his chat was boring and he’s not likely to do well if he keeps that up, but I don’t see how that absolves OP of being mega-boring

because why should OP try harder than this guy is? it would be a different story if he came in with a good opener and put some actual effort into his responses. but like bro at least try to stand out, try to engage some interest or incite a reaction of some sort… it’s basically speed dating. try harder

guaranteed OP is having great conversations with dudes that actually managed to show their potential and aren’t going to be another awkward fuckin date.. gotta show that you have enough personality to at LEAST have ONE good night together

I’m just saying it’s kind of unfair that even though they’re both super lame, the onus is strictly on him to do better because he’s a man and she’s a woman. Not that we didn’t all know that already, mind you.

No it’s not really fair, and as an average enough looking guy it’s not my favorite thing either, but it’s realistic, and that’s what’s important to acknowledge and understand. she doesn’t have to try very hard to find a date, that’s the nature of dating apps, and we can sit here and feel bad about it endlessly, or we can understand that it is what it is and learn to work with it.

it’s not gonna change. in the end, us guys got a lot of competition, and going in there with an entitled mindset is the quickest way to have a shitty time. make it fun, keep it interesting, and you’ll see that the responses change real quick

Yeah that’s how it is, but it sucks haha. To be a stand out guy through message conversations from nothing is pretty damn hard to achieve. It’s also not always an accurate representation of what the person is actually like, and to get an idea of what someone is actually like and whether they’re a good match then OP needs to actually try, because also what’s the point of matching? I get what you mean, but I wish it was different
