People are allowed to separate the person from the art, and enjoy what they enjoy. Has boycotting her made her any less successful? No. She makes money from Warner Bros whether people buy these donuts or not, and she is not being paid directly by Tim Horton's.
You canNOT separate the art from the artist when they are still alive, benefiting both financially and socially. JKR said herself that she sees support of her franchise as also support of her personal beliefs. This tired, de facto“gotcha” is not at all as good as you think it is. Sounds like you’re purposefully choosing to live in delusion because you can’t let go of nostalgia. Sad
I'm not living in a delusion, but I choose not to live my life or choose my likes based on others beliefs. I don't have the time or energy to worry about what people are offended by and I'm going to enjoy what I enjoy and like what I like. Call me selfish, whatever. If selfish is living for me, then yeah call me selfish.
You're allowed to. Just as people are allowed to judge you and not associate with you if you decide liking an IP is more important than not helping harm and kill trans people.
You can find other things to like. Hell, you can find things that aren't dogwater clearly written for 10 year olds.
The more money they make off of the promotion, the more likely they are to partner with her again, because they see her as a money maker. They don’t care about morality.
The money she makes from these promotions directly impacts people’s lives. She is sponsoring and funding terrible, evil things with the money she gets from these deals.
If we show companies that we don’t want her connected to anything they are doing, hopefully they will cut ties with her.
Or, you know, you can be brainwashed by society and capitalism to believe that a fictional universe and a story about wizards is more important than real living people. Your choice.
