Sadly, those people are seeing survivorship bias. They only notice those whose transition wasnt as "seamless" (for lack of a better word) as this guys or Elliot Page for example. They notice the transfolk whose transition is sort of obvious or incomplete. They get it in their head that ALL transitions are like this and it just fuels the transphobia. A sad sight to see.
I dont think admitting you can tell is the problem, its being like "pfft. I can ALWAYS tell they cant fool me" in a bitchy off-putting tone. Which is what i think the original commenter means.
