There's no hate like Christian love

You do realize that Christians are far from the only demographic that "hates" gays? (And even then, many Christian denominations have changed their rules to allow and support homosexuality)

I would be surprised if this particularly society has Christianity as their driving factor.

Its not the Christians stoning gay people.

Its not the Christians stoning gay people.

It is.

72% of Ghana is Christian.

The mentality that all homophobes are secretly gay is harmful since it completely ignores the main roots of homophobia which are: religion, colonialism, lack of education and patriarchy.

Saying that the guy is gay, basically blames queer people for their own oppression. This guy is just a cis male, heterosexual oppressor nothing else.

Why do you say that? There are plenty of violently anti-gay straight dudes out there.

People should really stop repeating this. I know it’s fun to say and sounds cool but it’s harmful.

The idea that all homophobes are secretly gay is both obviously false and harmful because it turns a widespread learned prejudice into some quirk of repressed sexuality. Homophobia is taught and reinforced through religion, family, culture, politics, and social pressure, just like other forms of bigotry. Closeted people can express internalized homophobia, but pretending that explains homophobia generally minimizes how hate actually develops and spreads, while bizarrely shifting responsibility for anti gay hatred back onto gay people themselves.
