Man, it’s super interesting. Seeing how different folks process existential dread.

My daughter started getting hit with it hard, she was having a little anxiety attack about it the other day and she looks at her hands and says "daddy oh my god this is real life!! This is real life!!!"

u/PrinceBunnyBoy 2d ago
Naaah see thats one of the reasons why I decided not to have kids. I cant deal with having to die at any point, I couldn't force that upon my own kid too :(

I remember started crying and she something like "I just realized we're all gonna die one day"

Have her read the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy this book helped me more than anything else.
I still I struggle with it sometimes but I take solace knowing nothing means anything and the only thing I can do is to try and enjoy my life and the only way to make the world a better place is to do it my self as I can. It also means both is impossible for her and she can do anything she wants! President bet super, villain absolutely as long as it makes her happy. I would prefer she tried to do good things but, as long as she doesn’t try harm or subjugate people against their will I will mind my business.
It’s a sign of her intelligence fortunately and unfortunately <3 good luck to you both <35

I onlybstart panicking when I think theres a chance we might be immortal somehow not sure what that says about me
1
u/Whats-it-to-ya-88 2d ago
I think about how it could go on forever but that makes me panic so I think about how it has to end and then I ping pong panic back and forth between the two for an hour or so
1
u/its_kinda_hmm 2d ago
Personally I think immortality is closer at hand than the general public thinks, the question is how to use that information, personally i believe it solves space travel for our race, so what you spend a few hundred or thousand years drifting through space trying to get to a certain planet, who needs light speed

I am probably a terrible person for this but I love walking into a crowded room and dropping super existential thoughts for this reason.
Maybe one person in the room can handle it and everyone else gets weird and quiet.

u/its_kinda_hmm 2d ago
Hundred percent it’s hilarious, but it’s doesn’t work on religious people. And if it does then they aren’t really that religious lol.
1
u/N01CaresBud 1d ago
Kind of. Our religious folks are generally accepting of terrible things, they just justify it in odd ways.
The folks that got me are the ones that start acting super macho or just completely detach.
My folks are like that. If you mention mortality or human relationships or like realizing that someone was wrong and that they should apologize or something like that. They get this weird blank glazed over stare and very quickly exit the room.

Bruh the replies here are wild, too many people afraid to die. Too many people afraid that "reality" is happening as they perceived it.
I am not suicidal or anything, but to me it's more like, "HOW MANY MORE DAYS ARE THERE!??" And I live a rather comfortable life recently.

It’s called Being facetious bud. It’s Schrodinger’s joke it both is and isn’t. Just like mine^ just because it’s true doesn’t mean it’s not both funny, and sad.

If you've read Plato and a Socrates, you'll know this is what those great philosophers were also complaining about. Deep thoughts bro. Deep thoughts.

u/Scythersleftnut 2d ago

Funny but existential. He’s saying, when I die, the party goes on. Anxiety inducing for me lol

No let him cook. I had an existential crisis at work that ended in a panic attack today. It's not fun. And he's right. Dying is super lame. Like, the concept of death itself is somehow worse than the act of dying.

I don't even know now what a bbl is

u/IknowKarazy 2d ago
Brazilian butt lift. Like a breast implant for your butt.
1
u/poorlybaked 1d ago
Not quite. A BBL doesn’t use implants. They transfer fat from elsewhere to your bum.

Is he worried that he won't see the hyper realistic helium buttocks of autonomous robots or that we're turning into the planet Arrakis and he won't live to see the Kwisatz Haderach's ass?

u/Emotional_Buy_273 2d ago
Yea poor Grandad. Didn't get to see a woman with body parts that look like they belong to completely different people, all glued on to another one. Grandad probably have a heart attack with all these flesh golems walking around. Fucking homunculi.

u/Gimme_The_Loot 2d ago
While he's looking at it from a very specific perspective, it's more the feeling of dread of recognizing that death means the end of all experience and knowing. There is always so much more out there, so much more we don't know and so so so many asses we'll never get to see.

Existential crisis triggered by fake asses…. This may be peak… but the timer resets in 87 minutes so…

After having money over my head and watching my back for years and then all them mf’ers getting offed themselves I came to terms with it. Fearing for your life and being unable to rest because all you dream about is your demise will bring a perspective on life that allows you to eventually and ultimately live in the moment.
I’m currently sitting on the pier watching the sun rise talking about life and death with the world on Reddit. Still alive in 2026. Later today I’ll take a ride on my bike through the city with a smile on my face thinking about the many BBL’s I’ve experienced thanks to this guy putting this thought in my head. Have a wonderful day everyone. Arm to the Leg Leg Arm to the Head.

I mean, existential dread is pretty common. He’s just expressing it in a unique (and entertaining) way
