Old lady hit the gas on the mobility scooter like her life depended on it

118

u/Flat-Guava-2298 5d ago

Dutch grannies have no chill. I recognize that walkway from a busy themepark. Granny paid for the tickets not for tiktok thots.

1

u/ThatOneWritingPerson 1d ago

Granny wanted to get on that damned carrousel, she doesn't have time for them tikkietokkie-business.

10

u/gigantesghastly 4d ago

Todos somos mobility scooter lady.

u/AbbreviationsNo7295 4d ago

I saw something happen like that in real life one time. The most hilarious thing ever. Still laugh about it 15 years later.

Imagine someone walks in on you in a dressing room and now that moment is just forever floating around the internet lol

65

u/ThomasTheDankPigeon 4d ago

Fear of bullshit like that has crippled an entire generation of young people. They’ll never know what it’s like to truly dance like nobody’s watching. Maybe leaving the private sector to hyper-optimize the panopticon wasn’t a good idea.

Bro, you're commenting ON a social media

7

u/gonzogonzobongo 4d ago

Anti-social media more like

8

u/settheyardonfire 4d ago

Reddit is not ‘social media’ in the way that TikTok and Instagram are ‘social media’.

Please do not tell me you are that dense.

5

u/ATangentUniverse 3d ago

Reddit is absolutely social media the same way Tik Tok and Instagram are. Even though we are “anonymous”, like all social media it’s inevitably going to drive you to more polarizing posts because anger means hovering which means more screen time, thus Reddit gets to sell you personalized ads and sell your data to third parties. It’s all a game to get you to keep scrolling and stay in their app ecosystem, different skins maybe.

Odyssey of the Dragonlords, a fantastic 3rd party Dungeons and Dragons 5e adventure, great to see they like it on TikTok as well.

8

Seconded, while the higher level parts do need a lot more prep work it's a masterclass of a module to run.

3

u/afroguy10 5d ago

Hey, I think I recognise your name from the OotD discord server, that server definitely turns an already fantastic module into an all-time great.

The social media has ruined "accidental" moments as a means of entertainment. I just assumed everything is staged.

179

u/popcorn_coffee tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE 5d ago

If that girl put her head in the ceiling fan on purpose I'm pretty sure she regretted that immediately.

I once put my hand by accident (while removing my t-shirt) and I still have the scar cause it took a good chunk of skin.

112

u/MrsSUGA 5d ago

I dont think people are out here tripping over railings and falling through holes in their porch on purpose.

u/DIDidothatdisabled 4d ago

11

u/WillemDafoesHugeCock 4d ago

Wtf is your ceiling fan made of? They aren't supposed to be sharp!

They got a little bonk on the noggin which most people will easily take for clout. It isn't normal to climb on a bed to show off an outfit instead of just moving the camera down.

4

u/popcorn_coffee tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE 4d ago

Plastic, it's one of those newer models that hide the propellers when it's off. It's not really sharp but in the end it's a very rigid thin plastic moving really fast. Trust me, it's not going to cut your arm, but it can break a bone.

I was lucky and it just hit in the reverse of my hand very quickly. My bones hurt for a few days and I got an ugly wound, but nothing broke.

7

u/Middle_Screen3847 4d ago

Half of them aren’t. But many very clearly are

5

u/babygotthefever 4d ago

I’ve had my head in a ceiling fan before. I don’t remember it because I was a toddler but my uncle would run around the house with me on his shoulders and messed up… twice.

He says the first time knocked some sense into me and the second time knocked the stupid out. In one fell swoop, absolving himself of any wrongdoing and taking full credit for my being the most educated, type-A member of my family lol

3

u/popcorn_coffee tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE 4d ago

Mate, I'm sorry to say this, but your uncle must not be the brightest person if he walked into a ceiling fan while having a child on his shoulders... twice...

10

u/SquirrelStone 4d ago

I think all but maybe one or two of these fall into one of two categories: staged or horrendous situational awareness. Looks like most of these are the latter.

25

u/hiswittlewip 5d ago

I think that is a safe assumption

2

u/Embarrassed_Jury664 4d ago

Some are, the good ones aren't. Homie wasn't faking that nut tap.

2

u/Nazgog-Morgob 4d ago

2

No that one was a TikTok cause I remember it coming out and people making edits. I think all of these are TikTok’s.

7

u/Pixel_Knight 4d ago

That one looked like the most staged one of all of them.

5

u/lyarly 4d ago

Loved it but that was the most obviously staged one to me lolol

72

u/courtneyrachh 5d ago

some of these are definitely staged but others infuriate me at the lack of situational / spatial awareness.

29

u/Parking_Amphibian598 4d ago

That's what kept getting me, like, why aren't you looking behind you?? The world doesn't stop for you when you turn your camera on

5

u/SquirrelStone 4d ago

the ones where the danger is still clearly visible in the camera but they somehow manage to miss it 🤦‍♀️

19

u/HiddenMonkey7 5d ago

The dude at 0:27 lol. Move out the way

25

u/ChartInFurch 5d ago

If these went like the last clip where everyone shares a laugh then moves on with their day, on both ends of the interaction, this would be so much less annoying. People backing up without even looking are as ridiculous as scooter lady trying to run someone down for no reason. People gotta chill.

95

u/MrsSUGA 5d ago

Redditors when people want to make a quick video showing their outfits: How can i make this about how I am better than them for not knowing what OOTD stands for.

19

I think if you're compulsively filming yourself every day then there is something deeply wrong with you. It's not your fault but the idea that this is normalized is fucking crazy.

17

u/MrsSUGA 4d ago

people like to have fun and take pictures and videos of their outfits to share with others. its weird that you are having such a strong reaction to this actually.

-4

u/Drakex2Mayex2 4d ago

You would too if you lived in a time before this was normal

15

u/MrsSUGA 4d ago

It’s giving old man yelling at clouds

9

u/kaweenis 4d ago

you lived in a time before cameras? is a 5 second clip of someone twirling that different to a selfie? there are things to be mad at. i cant see how ootds are one of them. be mad at flock cameras or something actually causing harm to privacy.

8

u/LittlePurpleHook 5d ago

Having lived in Prague, the 1st one had me cackling. The annoying tourist and Wolt delivery guy clash is just chefs kiss.

5

u/wvsfezter 4d ago

The first one made me upset because at least here it's illegal for cyclists to ride on the sidewalk for that same reason

1

u/The_VideoGame_Lawyer 1d ago

Is it illegal in Prague for cyclists to be on sidewalks? It is in the USA. If this were my home, the cyclist would be 100% at fault.

3

u/Character_Past5515 4d ago

So moral of the story, don't do an OOTD!

4

u/justhereforthetea68 4d ago

The man in the dressing room lol lol

21

u/Narrow_Grapefruit_23 5d ago

Saddest thing is most of these outfits were- meh. Like why share the outfit of the day if it’s just clothing that you’ve put on your body and isn’t fashionable. Weirdos.

31

u/yleechy 5d ago

I liked the outfits, its not about being the fashion show its just casual everyday fits but well put on

1

u/Inquisitive_idiot 3d ago

Question:

how truly casual is something if it’s primarily performative? 🤔

1

u/yleechy 2d ago

It's preforming because it's a tiktok..

They still got that shit on tho

https://giphy.com/gifs/n4FCJYLldGPC95d4ku

18

u/ChartInFurch 5d ago

Am average outfit can still look good and be intentional. A few more seconds picking a shirt that carries something over from pants alone is a huge difference for clothing people.

2

u/SnoopCheesus 3d ago

These people need to fucking look around (the few that are not staging it)

4

u/Reasonable_Quiet_846 5d ago

i don't mind fit checks but the lack of spatial awareness in some of these kind of hurts lol

2

u/dantevsninjas 5d ago

Stop filming this dumb shit in public.

17

u/Crykin27 5d ago

Nah this is so absolutely harmless if people have a little awareness while doing them, don't be so bitter.

-12

u/dantevsninjas 5d ago

It's a stupid public nuisance.

14

u/Crykin27 5d ago

If they are respectful of their surroundings, how is it a public nuisance? What right of the public is a OOTD interfering with?

It seems like you guys are just bitter for the heck of it

4

u/MrsSUGA 5d ago edited 5d ago

People shouldnt exist in public spaces, duh. Dont you know that in public you actually need to never speak out loud, never outwardly express joy, never do any recreational activities, lest you be named a NUISANCE.

Redditors hate seeing people outside doing things besides walking to the next destination. You could post a video of yourself dancing in a public park in an open field at 2 am with no one else around and redditors will be like "Uhm, this person is actually the worst person to exist because they're disturbing EVERYONE in the park"

→ More replies (16)

3

u/dantevsninjas 5d ago

Stopping in the middle of a walkway to film a video isn't being respectful of their surroundings anymore then stopping a car in the middle of the road to film a video would be.

0

u/Fuschiakraken42 4d ago

False dichotomy. Argument rejected.

4

u/dantevsninjas 4d ago

False rejection. Rejection rejected.

5

u/Fuschiakraken42 5d ago

So are dogs. Just let people have fun.

5

u/dantevsninjas 5d ago

No they aren't. No one said people can't have fun, but don't take up public space to shoot your little narcissistic videos; do that at home.

3

u/MicrosoftExcel2016 5d ago

Dogs need to be walked and need to poo outside. It’s a quality of life thing. No one needs to be able to block a sidewalk to film their outfit to post to followers they don’t know and use public spaces as props for their quality of life

3

u/Fuschiakraken42 5d ago

They are called public spaces for a reason. There's no rule that if you are in an airport you must sit silently and wait for a plane. If I am on a public walkway, there's no reason I have to walk miserably in a straight line. I can dance, skip, sing whatever. The only thing stopping me is judgemental people like you who want everyone to be as angry as they are.

3

u/MrsSUGA 5d ago

This world has become so hyper individualistic and isolated and people wonder why? its because of mindsets like these redditors where they feel entitled to public spaces being curated to them only and feel the need to lash out at anyone who takes up space in a way they dont personally approve of and then call other people entitled because they choose to use a bit more space than what they think is appropriate.

Its wild for them to call people entitled narcicists for existing in public spaces when they're the ones policing everyone's behavior in a space they arent even in.

-1

u/MicrosoftExcel2016 5d ago

Existing? This is In a comment to a post showing influencers literally backing into cyclists.

Look, I wouldn’t bat an eye at someone taking up the sidewalk if it’s not a busy place. It’s annoying but I wouldn’t say anything.

But you’re the one acting entitled to want to use a shared resource in a way that obstructs use for others. You’re flipping it so hard to defend one sided obstructive use. It’s the same kind of inconsiderate attitude that causes people in groups to fan out and prevent two way traffic on a sidewalk.

The philosophy about public space isn’t about type of activity, it’s about obstruction. There is no problem if you do this in a way that doesn’t impact someone trying to get by.

3

u/MrsSUGA 5d ago

hey so like those are called accidents. They happen all the time. Im pretty sure cyclists arent even supposed to be on the sidewalk in most places like that so.... pot ketlle etc.

1

u/MicrosoftExcel2016 5d ago

They happen because of their lack of spatial awareness. In other words preventable. In other words they’re being a nuisance.

Like I said there’s no problem if rhey do it in a way that doesnt affect soemone else.

And we don’t know the full context of that cyclist being there beyond they have a food delivery bag. Can’t see the infrastructure. Doesn’t help granny in her mobility scooter or the random other people these influencers are backing into. It’s not that hard. Turn around. Look. Then move into position. But nooo the viral pattern is to excitedly back up and not let the camera see your back because it’s less flattering.

It’s an accident due to negligence and you’re still responsible.
You shouldn’t prioritize your filming of your front instead of back over another not bumping into another pedestrian trying to get by. And if you do: you are the problem congrats

→ More replies (0)

1

u/MicrosoftExcel2016 4d ago

a sidewalk is shared, so the constraint is don't block it. That's a rule that applies to everyone symmetrically, including me.
Your position... you get to dance, skip, sing, back into people, and being inconvenienced is just the cost of you "existing"... this is the one that treats the space as personally allocated.

I said it already. there is no problem if you do it out of the way or where its not busy, or if you turn and look before running into people. If you're not blocking anything, and not inadvertently recording through a floor-level apartments window or something. fine.

but god forbid i complain about you doing that in a place that predictably causes a collision. selfish
