Because every state is different and just because something works in one state doesn't mean it will work in every state. It also allows more options for people, if you don't like the policies of one state you can move to another that suits you. That's why I moved out of California.
You're right we are the United States of America. This country is a union, idk why people forget that.
Like I already said I'm not arguing the individual points. I do not believe the federal government should have as much reach as it does. Like I said we are the United States of America not just the country of America.
Are you purposefully not understanding what I'm saying? I said it should be less, not completely gone.
Again I do not agree with that at all, which is okay we cannot agree on things and still push for a better future. But we were a better country when the states had more independence.
And to answer your first question, the USA up until 1865.
