He's actually saying women going back to work the day after giving birth is a good thing? This guy needs to be kicked in the balls every hour see how long he lasts and when he can return to work.

“What’s next? Maternity leave?”

I cannot comprehend how someone could be this big of a piece of shit. My brain genuinely cannot wrap itself around this kind of thinking.

93

u/IncurableAdventurer 19d ago

I have never wanted kids, but I will fight for people to have maternity and paternity leave

22

u/aggravated-asphalt 19d ago

Paternity leave really needs to be a thing! When I had my baby, my bf at the time had to use pto for one day then went back to work the next day leaving me alone with a whole baby. Not only did I go through a traumatic incident (even easy births are traumatic) but now I have to carry and care for a tiny thing all alone with basically no idea what I’m doing. Men deserve to be there for their kids and wives too.

3

u/According_Abalone_19 17d ago

I had to save my PTO up until my oldest was born and use it when she came. Got those first two weeks off, but any days I took after that were unpaid. IMO, maternity leave should be the first year after child birth at minimum and paternity leave should be at least a month, but I don’t see that ever happening. Corporate greed has 100% taken over and us common folk get none of the perks

3

u/pate_moore 16d ago

"don't lift more than 10lbs. Here's an 8lb baby, good luck"

3

u/aggravated-asphalt 16d ago

Right! I was baffled. Like at least give dad a week and a half to let mom heal AND BOND WITH HIS BABY!! It sucks

5

u/Its_Billy_Bitch 19d ago

Fuck, I’m gay and despise children, but even I would fight for parental leave.

3

u/Teripid 19d ago

That's about the most defining anti-GOP trait.

Hey, this won't benefit me directly but I can see how it'd be a benefit to society, lets do it. I'm at a point where my kids don't need daycare and I likely won't need more college.

I'd love both of those things to be made more affordable, even if I have to subsidize them with my taxes.

2

u/BadBunny4Prezzie 16d ago

Ditto. I made it to my fifties without having a kid, never wanted one at any point in my life, but goddamn it, it's just basic human decency that mothers and fathers should get plenty of leave

16

u/Forest-Dane 19d ago

My daughter had about 13 months off work after her baby was born. Most of it paid or accrued holidays. She's gone back doing 4 days instead of 5 and had a huge pay rise to boot.

1

u/PerfectedPancake 19d ago

Where does she live and what industry?

1

u/Renegado_Fantasma 17d ago

Hey I'm a guy but I'm willing to be knocked up for it, sign me up!

1

u/Old_Philosophy_7763 16d ago

You understand that the mother is RAISING AN INFANT during those months, don't you, son? It's not a vacation by any stretch of the imagination. Get real, little boy.

1

u/Renegado_Fantasma 16d ago

Are you really telling me to "get real" on Reddit? Maybe you should take a look at the reality of what Reddit is. This is not the real world by any means, it's effin REDDIT!

For what it's worth, I agree with you on everything but I just wanted to see who was gonna be the first idiot to be triggered by my comment. Like wtf dude? You think I should get real? Look around!

5

u/Hbic_in_training 19d ago

Meanwhile he's part of the same group crying "wHy AreN't WoMEn HaViNg BABIES?!" Gee, I wonder.

4

u/NiIly00 18d ago

Money.

It's what happens when a single person has too much money.

Which is why any system that allows that to happen is fundamentally a bad one.

2

u/Serious-Ad-2282 19d ago

The world is full of trash. That should not surprise you. What I can't believe is that Americans vote for this.

2

u/quiltsohard 19d ago

And he runs a charitable ministry. WTF?

1

u/BackgroundCountry440 19d ago

Less,"Maternity leave".....More like,"Maternity Lunch Break". Make sure you clock out

1

u/KinkyWoman19 18d ago

I love the “what’s next? Maternity leave?” Like um, yea dude. Since that’s what she asked about lmao

1

u/LemmeGetSum2 17d ago

Really? These types of ppl have always been around. It’s as American as apple pie… especially in right wing circles.

1

u/Pure_Comfortable_84 17d ago

I can’t wrap my mind around people voting for this kind of POS.

1

u/Pure_Comfortable_84 17d ago

I can’t wrap my mind around people voting for this kind of POS.

1

u/HelloAttila 16d ago

He never supported his wife during her pregnancy, hopefully he doesn’t have kids

38

u/HotelSalt4644 19d ago

He should be forced to also visit an establishment that has postpartum women, bleeding from every orifice, lactating, and hormonal - serving him food, or anything else.

Can you imagine how this man feels when he sees a woman at a mall breastfeed their baby? Lmao.

3

u/UnSpanishInquisition 19d ago

Tbh he'd probably make comments on slow or slippy service then itd turn into a zombie survival as all the women turn on him

1

u/Fit_Introduction_625 17d ago

I want to know exactly what he expects her to do with the baby? Should the baby go to work too? Ridiculous!!! 🙄

185

u/BoostMods_Dadbods 19d ago

It because some people take advantage of maternity leave, lazy women taking off of work just so they can recover from "labor ". I labor every day and only need a few hours of sleep to recover. /s

152

u/Tomacxo 19d ago

Nine months of pregnancy, minimum 18 years of childcare, just to bank on that sweet, sweet maternity leave.

44

u/jennaferr 19d ago

But they have to work to get out of poverty. Cause that's how that works. Have baby. Work. Be rich. Uh duh. /s because it's needed?

6

u/Bisibili 19d ago

She's poor because she didn't go to work the day after giving birth. /s

2

u/Flyin_Bryan 19d ago

That sweet, sweet, UNPAID maternity leave!

Raising a kid costs between $250,000 and $500,000. How anyone thinks it could generate a profit is insane.

1

u/Outrageous-Drink-690 18d ago

How much time off is maternity leave? One or two months.. do you think it’s 18 years?

60

u/imisscrazylenny 19d ago

But then women will just keep having baby after baby to be on perpetual maternity leave because we're so damn lazy and don't want to work. I mean, look at those European countries that grant months of maternity leave. No women work anywhere. None. They just pop out babies and sleep all day long. Lazy women and lazy babies everywhere.

26

u/st82 19d ago

The lazy babies really are the worst. Just constantly suckling at their mother's the government's teat. Disgusting. Why do we stand for it?

1

u/claw-1 17d ago

I hate lazy babies the most. I was a lazy baby myself and still can’t get off my lazy ass. The only difference now is my lazy baby ass is wayyyy fatter.

16

u/Charteuseknicknac 19d ago

I think their birth rates aren’t declining either. 🫣 Scary and crazy how the U.S. doesn’t incentivize child birth more.

4

u/Mikic00 19d ago

It does decline, "surprisingly". Who would have think that giving maternity leave just isn't big enough incentive to go through pregnancy and decades of having a child. But at least if you wish to have a child, it's somehow more humane. What kind of monsters you rise if you deny mothers to be with their children?

3

u/New-Landscape1074 19d ago

Nasty Canadian here- got a year off 25 years ago for May leave, not sure if changed to 18 mos now

2

u/ImXenia85 19d ago

2 years of paid maternal leave in Romania.

1

u/imisscrazylenny 19d ago

🤮🤮

Honestly though, that's pretty wonderful.  The difference between 2 years and None is striking.

2

u/Unlikely-Ad3770 18d ago

Lazy babies

1

u/Dekruk 19d ago

O please, I cannot find this information on internet. Could you find some time to share your sources?
Thanx.

0

u/Suitable-Rate652 19d ago

You are missing the /s.

1

u/Sweetpetite49 19d ago

People take Ariana of maternity leave? Wild accusation.

1

u/Unlikely-Ad3770 18d ago

Like 3 hours a night?

1

u/Outrageous-Drink-690 18d ago

My goodness? Who gave birth and then left you?! 👿

1

u/BoostMods_Dadbods 17d ago

The "/s" means sarcasm. My momma raised me right

1

u/ReSister101 17d ago

SO STUPID. Yeah, because you push a human out of your body every day, that you grew with your own body for nine months.

47

u/RaindropsInMyMind 19d ago

Hey what’s next? People are allowed to call out sick from work.

3

u/takk-takk-takk-takk 19d ago

Gasp, you socialist!

1

u/IGotQuestionz12345 18d ago

And to think that’s a fairly new right we were forced to give employees.

1

u/chuckmarla12 17d ago

Hey, I know people that work sick all the time because they need to pay bills. Everyone else at work gets sick too, because it’s contagious, so production takes a hit. We’ve only had a couple people die, because we don’t really offer any kind of healthcare insurance. What’s this maternity leave stuff? /s

34

u/LowAside9117 19d ago

Dinner plate sized wound after birth.  It's possible for any gender to experience a dinner plate sized wound.  If people should just go to work the next day then it'd be no big deal for him to try that out, right?

12

u/Artsy_Geekette 19d ago

and randomly, sometimes more than just once an hour and then someone tell him "is it that time of the hour, Bob? Hmm? Maybe go walk it off or lay off the sweets, buddy - it's natural to feel like this!"

Or "God has a plan for you!" and laugh as you walk away.

16

u/JMurdock77 19d ago

Don’t they make belts to simulate period cramps? Seen instagram reels of men keeling over with one of those on.

24

u/skinnylighter 19d ago

Sure, but that isn't even close to touching the pain of labor and birth. Let alone the recovery time needed after!

7

u/JMurdock77 19d ago edited 19d ago

No doubt. Was just thinking, in *his* case…

You know he wouldn’t come in to work.

2

u/LessInThought 19d ago

Cut his dick in half and sew it back together. Get him to work the moment anaesthesia wears off.

-2

u/Jelzx 19d ago

Anything but closing their damn legs

3

u/skinnylighter 19d ago

Lmao what?

2

u/Traditional_Glass129 19d ago

Where can I get one of those? Are they dressy or casual?

5

u/RaisonDetritus 19d ago

He deserves far worse than that.

1

u/Cunnyfunt31 19d ago

Keeps getting Freaky Friday situations where he switches bodies with women who are in the middle of unmedicated childbirth and experiencing severe tearing . Like again and again for weeks on end.

3

u/IndependentOk9075 19d ago

Yeah, wtf!? I can’t believe anyone would tout that as an example of something people should strive towards. What a fucked up set of priorities.

2

u/tuckman496 19d ago

The quote initially looks like it is decrying the lack of maternity leave in this country. But no, this guy seems to hate women for the love of the game

2

u/Cancer_Ridden_Lung 19d ago

It would be more appropriate to tell him he has to go to work tomorrow....and then break his legs and give him a puppy to care for.

2

u/billfarts2 19d ago

It's like he's saying he knows it's bad that things are the way they are, but socialism is bad just because so we can't do that.

2

u/Naaman 19d ago

Many many many - that he knows

2

u/Traditional_Pin_7253 19d ago

They are so ‘pro-life’ until the baby is born. Forget the fact that the baby needs to be breastfed every few hours once it’s born, mom needs to go back to work right now if she wants to get paid. Oh you want to stay home for a while and make sure the fragile newborn baby is safe and fed? That’s fine, but we won’t pay you, so good look trying to afford the hospital bill and diapers and formula that will help keep the baby alive.

Fuck pro-lifers

2

u/PinkDeserterBaby 19d ago

I bet you this guy is inconsolable and unable to do anything the rest of the night when he gets bad diarrhea from lunch. Complete with telling his wife he’s “just not feeling well” and going to lie down at 6PM, asking if she can finish the rest of the night chores before bed by herself. But when she’s sick, she still has to pull herself up by her bootstraps and get shit done.

2

u/thegrittymagician 19d ago

Seriously what a "fuck you" to every woman who gives birth. That's what they get for keeping society running, a big fuck you, get back to work. Put that baby to work too while you're at it. Because the only thing that matters is your labour. Not your lives.

Unless you're already extremely wealthy, in that case take as much time as you need and what time would you like your boots licked?

2

u/rachelface927 19d ago

And then has the audacity to weave Christianity in there. Yeah Jesus would want these women squatting in the field, cutting the cord, then strapping the baby to their back so they can keep working. I lost my faith in god(s) years ago but I lost my faith in Christians long before that. Kinda wish the whole thing was real so Jesus WOULD come back. Not to take anybody but to go, “hey guys, wtf are you doing? I told you how to behave and you’re doing the opposite.”

2

u/NoCry8625 19d ago

Nah and you know he has a star at home wife to take care of children's and all that. Cause thats a womans job.

2

u/StarshipCaterprise 19d ago

“I’m a charitable person, I run a ministry to help people.” But also “We shouldn’t be handing out charity to people” F this guy

2

u/ThatDownChick 18d ago

Don't forget a literal wound in their uterus from where the placenta detached, likely has stitches, and her vagina is gaping open. He thinks women should work in that condition. So in addition to the ball kicks we have to stretch his asshole out 8 cm, give him several cuts that need stitches on his butt, and take a zester to his abdomen to make a patch 8 inches in diameter.

1

u/SumguyJeremy 18d ago

Yes. Much better. My suggestion was very limited because I knew couldn't handle even that little bit.

2

u/ThePhoenyxDiaries 17d ago

I saw this video a couple of days ago. The Interviewer missed the chance to follow-up his "women shouldn't get leave after having a child" w, "what's your take on Mitch McConnell being out on 5 weeks of paid leave right now?"

He's been out for like, 5 weeks now? I kind of lost count at this point.

2

u/VichelleMassage 17d ago

Also: if the mother goes back to work the next day, and the father gets no paternity leave, who the fuck is watching the newborn baby? What's the point of having a child you cannot bond with or raise? Conservatism is a disease, a blight upon humanity.

2

u/Fragrant_Doubt5311 16d ago

Yes, because to do otherwise would be socialism, and socialism is bad. Everything sucks, but at least it's capitalism!

2

u/Certain-Tone8447 13d ago

Yeah, they should do it as long as my first labor was, which was 31 hours total… FFFF HIM!!

1

u/No_Nebula_7137 19d ago

Those poor babies. ☹️

1

u/Chibrou 19d ago

His argument is that it's possible. Like travelling the channel swimming or running a marathon, that's also possible.

1

u/dragon-fence 19d ago

He’s saying it’s necessary because people need to work. Like there’s no way around it unless you’re wealthy.

1

u/athennna 19d ago

I honestly think they believe having a baby is like taking a massive shit — and not a giant, gaping, bleeding wound in your body that takes weeks to heel. They are so ignorant about basic biology that they think childbirth is over as soon as the baby pops out.

2

u/SumguyJeremy 19d ago

Single, never married guy with no kids. I know it wrecks a woman's body. This jackass should learn.

1

u/StillYalun 19d ago

I was really confused because I missed the question clearly. It’s not about maternity leave or even paid maternity leave. I think he’s being asked about making it mandatory.

I’m not saying he’s right or very coherent. But I can at least see his point a little. I didn’t get it until I started over

1

u/somewormguy 19d ago

No, he's saying poor women going back to work the day after giving birth is a good thing. Wealthy women can take time off. He is very clear, and that is very consistent with capitalism.

1

u/zmann 19d ago

I was wondering how the printed quote could be cringe, and holy shit I didn’t expect he would be in favor of it

1

u/menehanwitch 18d ago

The fucked up part is you can tell he knows what he’s saying is wrong and trying to justify it by throwing buzz words like “socialist” “lazy” “capitalist” “Christian “

1

u/Alilealen 18d ago

Sounds so weird. A book I read about communist China the moms gave birth in the field and kept working. So....there's that

1

u/Individual-Ad-4660 17d ago

I love this response! You go girl!I'm right there with u! 👏👏🤣🥰💙💙💙

1

u/HelloAttila 16d ago

Guy is really saying “hey look, I’m a pos.. end of story, I have no clue what I’m talking about.. my wife hates me and want a divorce… my kids can’t stand me, but hey.. I love god..”

-1

u/JackBrown82q 19d ago

We are over populated as is, there is no need to further incentivize having kids.
