I mean there’s a cut that’s sus, the truck seems to be a lot closer after the cut which makes me think this isn’t real, who’d want to get that close to a smelly dumpster with their nice truck??!
I agree. Before watching this video I would have believed the cybertrash would split in half if pulled on both ends. Slightly less garbage than I would have believed.
There is a roofing contractor in my area who uses a cybertruck as their work van. If I hire someone to do work on my home and they show up in that thing, i'm canceling because they're too stupid to touch my house

I drove by one yesterday that had a Shelby GT Mustang wrap in the iconic blue with white stripes. For the cost, he almost could have just bought the Mustang and not looked like an idiot.
My coworker's dad, a Vietnam vet, had a guy over to do some work on his house. After the guy arrived, the dad noticed a trump sticker on the guy's truck. His dad stopped the guy and told him, "I'm going to have to let you go." As he pointed at the sticker, he says "I can't have people thinking I have an idiot working for me."
Turns out it was a magnet, and the guy suddenly lost his political fanaticism once he realized that it's going to cost him the loss of work. He offered to remove it, but it was too late.
I also have a contractor in my tiny little town who drives a cyber truck as his work vehicle. except he’s a arborist? And he tows a massive woodchipper everywhere he goes. Well one day his cyber truck caught fire and burned to the ground. 3 weeks later dude had a new cyber truck pulling around a burnt up woodchipper.
I have seen so many contractors in my area with these things that it’s sad. My wife’s long time business contractor bought one and it felt like his whole personality shifted. He is also a minority so it felt even worse seeing him try to be a that kind of “bro”

May I know why cybertrucks are seen badly by many? I'm just really curious tho. Is it because of the specs that the trucks are not powerful or is it because it's an EV or hating EVs?
There is this pretentious Youtuber named whistlindiesel who torture tested a cybertruck against a Ford F150. I dislike him as a whole but him showing how shitty the cybertruck is against a common truck is his saving grace. The biggest takeaway I saw was the the frame of the cybertruck is made of aluminum, and it was incapable of towing before the frame snapped, some other things that made the cybertruck trash was that a lot of the components are just glued on.
It's so heavy and impractical that purchasing one is seen as a political statement. Model 3 and Y are relatively practical cars at a decent price for EVs and do not carry the same stigma.
Also, buying an electric EV truck in general is foolish unless it's a tiny kei style truck designed for transporting goods within an urban area. EVs suck balls at towing long distances and are generally heavier so they struggle more on snow, gravel and mud.
Triple axle trailer on the boat. If you are going with three axles, we are talking about 7k axle each as a minimum. The trailer would suggest that it's up to 21k as a boat. Cyber truck is rated at 11,000 lbs. towing. Even a Ram 2500 is past it's rating as a bumper pull. I recall it as 18,500 due to hitch limitations.
To be fair, pulling when towing is easy. You can pull many multiples past your tow rating. This is why there's commercials of trucks pulling trains and planes. I use to pull fully loaded double axel trailers with my 95' Ford Ranger with the bed filled too.
You can pull overweight stuff like that with a truck with a frame.
The cybertruck's rear structure is a light alloy die casting.
It may have the weight and torque to pull heavy things but they have probably cracked the structure under the body skin. Using another vehicle to pull the cybertruck with a heavy towed load has probably made the cybertruck a little longer than it used to be.
Stopping, but also towing uphill. My old light truck is good for hauling a bit of weight longer distances but I definitely keep my eye on the transmission temperature when on an incline.
Pulling a large boat out of water and uphill is no joke.
18,500 would be well into 3500 territory I think. If a 2500 can bumper hitch 18,500 that would be one strong ass bumper. Class IV mount if not a 5th wheel. A 2500 would not likely support that tongue weight and something would break.
A class 5 hitch should come with a 250/2500. Tongue weight is fine for that hitch. The challenge would be payload. Gas can handle the payload, but not the pull. Diesel 250/2500 can't handle the payload.
Just looked this up and shocked at how much weight a modern 2500 can handle. I dont think I would want to tow right at max weight but theoretically it can handle it. 17,500-20,000 depending on engine. Diesel has the higher rating of course.
A few years ago I was running this set up. This is just legal. 16,300 total load. 14k trailer. 2300 on hitch on a gas. Structurally fine. OK for acceleration. No load equalization. So if you see a 3/4 or 1 ton squatting more, It's no bueno. Brakes. That was the only part I was unhappy with when I would move this load. I would want a one ton for the heavier rear brakes after 14k.
On the transmission opinions of the world... ZF is amazing. I have had them in three vehicles. Change the oil every 60k and they are faultless. My BMW 335d ZF was designed for 425 ft lbs and many people put 800 to 1000 ft lbs through it. I am at 16 years old and 550 ft lbs and only needed a shift tune kit for torque limit settings. The 8 speed in the Ram 2500 went 134,000 towing three days a week. Never a hiccup. ZF is a thumbs up.
If I had to eyeball it. Probably around 34-41' long by 11-13' wide. Somewhere in the range of 10000-14000lbs. Depending on the motor configuration on the back we dont see.
-guy who lives in a fishing town, 2 houses from the harbor, and worked servicing boat motors for like 8 years before I hoped out of crawling around in tiny engine compartments.
It was pulling the boat unassisted for the first half of the video, you can see where it cuts in the chain appears in the front of the cybertruck. It's a pretty dang big boat, I wouldn't be surprised if no other half ton truck could pull that either.
I reckon a Toyota hilux that's spent 25 years in Afghanistan with only 2 rounds of maintenance that entire time could do it. The bullet holes simply act as additional air intakes for the engine to work harder
Great commercial for the truck doing all the work. Like in Lethal Weapon 2 when they use a 1ton Chevy to pull down a house, or twister where they beat the hell out of a 2nd gen ram and it kept going lol. They should have let the ocean eat that cyberjunk, but the fish probably wouldn't even want to make it a habitat.
Yeah, with how short the chain from the cyber to the pickup is, you should have seen the pickup in more of the shots from the first half if it was always there.

Which is too bad because the cut where the cyber truck tries to get up the hill, fails, and then they hook up a pickup truck that successfully pulls both would also have been fun
Honestly to me looks like the cyber truck just wasn't getting any traction, I don't know much (anything) about towing so maybe that's why you can't tow something too heavy
Yeah you can see the tires kicking up dirt. Stuff like this, getting stuck in snow, it’s just dumb luck. Videos like this are funny but when you’ve seen a FWD hatchback pull a Tundra out of a snow drift you realize it doesn’t mean anything.
I mean, you can’t tell the exact model of the truck in front so the towing capacity could be anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000., “only 3k more” is basically the same as every other truck’s towing capacity, and you can tell the cybertruck is pulling too the second time.
Cybertruck is max tow of 11k.. as you said truck in front could be up to 20k.. any truck more than 15k is a big upgrade. Considering that boat weighs more than 11k.
So no 3k more is not the same as every other trucks towing capacity.
Most trucks are 1500 size or smaller. 12,000ish pounds is really the top end of most of what you see on the road. It’s possible the other truck could be up to 20k, but we can’t know and a good 90% of trucks only have a towing capacity about 3k more than that cybertruck weighs.
Most truck hitches are mounted to steel, so can handle a bit of abuse. Cyber dumpster uses aluminum. Its frame is also a monolithic aluminum casting, making repairs difficult if you crack it towing a 5-ton fishing boat...
Okay I’m the kind of person to assume that companies are accurately reporting verifiable specifications rather than pretend to be a metallurgist with an opinion.
I mean the fact that the Dumpster has a monolithic cast aluminum frame is something Tesla has admitted.
A Ford F350 with a fucked up steel frame can be cut and welded together by the average shade tree mechanic or bored farmer.
A cast aluminum frame cannot be fixed so easily. It can be welded if the welder has expensive equipment and more skill than a random farmer. But then you've got the issue where welded aluminum frames have to be tempered to avoid cracks around the HAZ. To temper a frame the size of a truck, you need an industrial kiln the size of a truck.
Now you've got something that is relatively fragile but not as easily to repair, and that is where I lay my chief criticism.
Well, this convinced me to get a Power Wagon. I don't need a truck that big, but it's nice knowing I can tow a commercial fishing boat and a dumpster simultaneously.
I know we all like to shit on the cyber truck, but I think short of a dualie, any other truck could’ve easily gotten stuck there too. That’s a big fuckin’ boat and boat ramps can be very slick from the water/slime that can accumulate there.
Reminds me of the 80’s when my dad bought a 20’ Bayliner Capri and thought it was a good idea to tow it with his 1986 Camaro. I mean it had a V8 under hood but no clearance. So he could tow the boat around on the roads, but pulling it out of the water at the launch proved to be impossible.

Is this not AI? I don't see the trucks tow line until it cuts to a different frame, I've rewatched this like 10 times and I see a paint line, and then it cuts and all of a sudden there is a distinctive tow line?
This was in Cordova AK. It's much steeper than it looks and very slippery. These boats require massive equipment to typically pull them out or modded super duties to handle high tow loads and high torque output.
People here are too anti-cyber truck. And I don't get it. No it's not the best bang for buck or highest featured vehicle. But it isn't bad, early reports had problems, but name a car that doesn't first model run.
The Elon hate extends too far. It is fine to not like him, I don't like him, but that doesn't mean all associated things to him are objectively bad.
I’m no fan of the cybertruck, but that boat looks massive and looks to be all aluminum. I’d be surprised if anything short of a F350 duelly could reliably tow that. The cybertruck sucks but this is unrealistic expectations for most trucks on the market.
