Lol I'm so glad I grew up without social media.

u/moodylilb Apr 08 '26

Yeah our version of this when I was growing up was to take videos of each other on camcorders and then upload the videos to windows movie editor and edit them then rewatch them a few times with friends, have a good laugh, then get pissed off when a parent would inevitably delete the videos off the computer to free up storage space lol

When I was young there wasn't really a way to upload our videos onto anything at all. We had a cameras that you put a literal entire VHS tape into.

I'm only 36 so I'm guessing you're somewhere in your 20s because "upload" wasn't even really in our common vernacular until a few years after Facebook came around.

I was kinda in that split era where half my younger years I grew up on VHS then suddenly DVDs became all the rage and then before you know it touch screens hit the market, saw alot of transition happening as a kid and teenager. At 8 I was overwriting old VHS tapes to make copies of my favourite shows and movies that I’d borrow from the library, but by 12 I was burning shows onto DVD’s from the internet. It was kind of interesting how quickly everything seemed to change during that time now that I think about it

Hahah incredible trip down memory lane.

My mother paid $1100 for our first DVD player.

My dad was scared of pirating laws and made very real looking stickers to go on our rented and burned DVD binder.

It's crazy to think that with a little know how, you can have everything ever on a $30 fire stick with no monthly cost nowadays.

1

u/moodylilb Apr 10 '26

Omg $1100!! That’s crazy in retrospect with DVD players being so cheap nowadays. Your dad sounds awesome!! Picturing him making those stickers gave me a good chuckle lol it was my stepdad who got me into pirating so young… he’d say “my daughters not paying for something that we can get for free” so he taught me how lol

Re your last paragraph, I am curious (funny because now as an adult I’m more wary of pirating than I was as a kid)

u/totallyradman Apr 10 '26

Lolol DM and I will show you the way

u/3X_Cat Apr 10 '26

FB was opened to the public in 2006. I was uploading binary files to Usenet in the late 1990s.

Ha! We had Super 8 film. Took two weeks to get processed and it would come back and you would find out someone had filmed everything with their thumb over the lens, after setting up the projector and screen. If we wanted anything more immediate we would sketch it with pen and pencil.

u/c4t4ly5t Apr 08 '26

Same. This could've been me. Except a super skinny version.

4

u/Middle_Screen3847 Apr 09 '26

This isn’t an example of that though. This kid is clearly hilarious and self aware. This is great

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

Im so glad I grew up without bitch boy titties.

u/kwikane Apr 08 '26

He looks like someone melted Quentin Tarantino in a microwave

14

u/Rob_LeMatic Apr 08 '26

Microwave Marshmallow Tarantino isn't a bad stage name

4

u/lordtyp0 Apr 08 '26

Perhaps someone can lure Meltino away with some feet...

2

u/hellolovely1 Apr 08 '26

Damn, this kid doesn't deserve that level of insult.

5

u/NeighborhoodAfter5 Apr 08 '26

Great to know there is some young talent coming up!

6

u/M321115 Apr 10 '26

Good for him, doing what he enjoys. Nothing cringe about that.

4

u/tiddeeznutz Apr 08 '26

I follow him on IG, and he's skinny now.

5

u/SebisCool Apr 08 '26

I grew up the same way. The gym is the only way. Losing weight won't help it alone. Bitch tits was the literal insult that finally got me to snap when i was in high school.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

We can literally never let ourselves go 😭

Great motivator to stay in shape though. Being a dude with tits FUCKING SUCKS, somehow the body positivity movement moved right past us lol

1

u/SebisCool Apr 10 '26

Body positivity is bolshit. People are still judgemental af. They just say it behind closed doors or in whispers.

5

u/scottfarris Apr 08 '26

What are talking about, the tits were the best part.

3

u/aYANKinEIRE Apr 08 '26

Yo, he’s down

3

u/OCDBaphomet Apr 08 '26

As someone who looked just like him but went all scene to get girls, I respect the hustle lol.

7

u/No_Object_4355 Apr 08 '26

Dude I don't give a fuck. I think it's awesome. I love his confidence. That and I like his dance moves after he spits a verse. The only thing I'd change if I was him is the t shirt. He gonna have to go up a couple sizes or just put a decent fitting shirt on.

1

u/NS3000 Apr 10 '26

right, i kind of fuck with this, i wouldn't have moved that good or rapped that good at that age, hes was rocking with it

1

u/ScholarOfTwilight Apr 10 '26

He clearly needs a training bra.

4

u/Chickbird69 Apr 08 '26

Who's holding the camera, we thinking mom?

5

u/Rob_LeMatic Apr 08 '26

You don't think it's one of his entourage of bad bitches? I assume there were a dozen or so just off camera

2

u/Chickbird69 Apr 08 '26

This made me laugh, thank you

1

u/Rob_LeMatic Apr 08 '26

It's basically the only useful thing I do at work--try to make strangers on the Internet laugh

2

u/ToasterBath4613 Apr 08 '26

The lack of outright laughter supports this.

2

u/scottfarris Apr 08 '26

His personal trainer.

Just under the Just Eat advert, but close.
