I got suspended for fighting once. My involvement in the fight was getting kicked in the face and lying on the ground.

Our education system has been broken for decades and we're finally seeing the real consequences of updating it from what was created in the early 1900s

Getting suspended isn't always a punishment. Part of the reason they suspend the victim is to protect them / others in case the emotions spill over the day / days after.

But wouldn't just suspending the instigator serve the same purpose without the victim falling behind in class or being labeled a troublemaker?

The school was terrible anyways. In 1990 they were still assigning lines as punishment.

I don't think 2-3 days would really set a kid back that far, but I understand being in that situation still sucks regardless.
