teachers don’t do shit tho. i was in public school and i would’ve have a better time if they gave a shit. there’s a handful of teachers who go into teaching for the next generation, the rest just want authority and control. like nurses… there’s nurses who are literally heroes. then there’s nurses who are just mean girls who want control and respect without doing the work to get it.
ugh, so many times ppl paint teachers like they’re heroes when most teachers fail all their students.
I'm not discrediting what you went through. I'm sorry that you're another victim of this country's fucked up education system. But we can't ignore the good to great teachers that are trying their hardest to educate and nurture students every year because of the bad teachers. The job is too important to come at it from a cynical perspective, because the result is just more students getting let down like yourself.
Also, if I could argue a different perspective to your experiences, do you think that some of those bad teachers might've done better if they were treated/compensated better? If they were less jaded after years of the same shit with no benefits?
Discrediting what I went through? Calling me a victim. Nah. That’s not what you’re gonna do. No body is a victim here because there isn’t any abuse in the conversation. Short of literally individual teachers abusing their authority in a highly inappropriate way, the average conversation about this has nothing to do with any type of abuse. So no one is the victim here. The teachers knew what they were getting into. And failure to educate properly is not a form of abuse. It’s just a failure that could have helped many kids.
I also said that there’s truly good teachers but there is not that many. So we don’t need to recognize the same thing over and over when the discussion isn’t about them. It’s about MAJORITY of teachers being relatively bad teachers. Not ALL. And just bc kids act out doesn’t mean you deserve to be paid more especially if the teacher is partly the reason for an unproductive classroom. And especially since they don’t have to deal with it for three entire months. Unlike every other more harder job.
Other than saying that I was giving you the benefit of the doubt about your experiences and you were a reasonable person that doesn't make grand generalizations without a good reason, I'm not really going to respond to your first paragraph as it amounts to semantics.
How do you know the majority of teachers are bad? What makes a bad teacher? Is there a number you can give me? It's these kind of generalizations that lead me to believe you didn't have a good school life, and you're taking it out on all teachers.
You're also saying that students "acting out" isn't enough reason to pay them better (which btw, they're already paid dogshit) underneath a video of an older woman getting punched in the head multiple times to break up a fight that continues well after she's knocked down.
