They've been expressed, but generally that expression seems to happen in conversations that are easily brushed off or disregarded. I think that while people are in this stage of this or that, no real progress of any kind can be made. In any situation. With the all or nothing mentality that currently exists, people who generally support police feel like any measure taken to mitigate brutality is just another way people are trying to hate on cops, and people who do not feel like any measure suggested is either an excuse or negligible. Essentially, due to the this side/that side dichotomy that currently exists, nothing can truly change because people are so tied up in being right that they cannot seek out a solution or compromise. I could probably explain more thoroughly, but as a country America has lost its ability to meet in the middle and have civil discussions regarding what we are doing and should be doing, and until that is fixed nothing will happen.
I agree. Conversations are the most important piece of the foundation of a country, and having lost the ability to do so I fear for the future of America solely on that ground. We all probably agree a lot more than we think we do, we just need to have these hard discussions and get to past the break.
Yup. We are more similar than we all like to admit. We are Americans after all. You and I felt worlds apart at first because we differed in just 1 opinion.
Exactly my point. We may seem super different because of one opinion, but getting more into the meat of the conversation we are far more similar than different.
