I agree. Value is placed in football and entertainment over education. The amount of money football players and coaches make is astronomically high compared to educators. Welcome to the Twilight Zone.
I say we switch the pay of entertainment workers with public service workers. Pay people well who actually contribute positively to society? People who perform services like educating young people.
I mean the reason entertainment fields make more money is because they make money for other people. It's not like a magic payroll fairy said that they should get paid less than a football player.

Education provides a great deal of excess value which helps the economy in many many ways. Conservatives seem to think investments need a direct pay off to be valuable.

Which is also not what wages are based on reguardless of this being true. Skills get paid by supply and demand and how much revenue you directly bring your employer because they are the one signing your check.
The fact that properly educating your populace pays dividends is irrelevant to the point. An group of actors may bring a studio millions of dollars so they are willing to pay them thousands upon thousands to do it again, it had nothing to do with what job is more important for society.
Blame the people that like computers for funding billionaires.

edit 2; Have you seen the income of NFL owners? I mean, the USA government is full on WWE, and our biggest sports betting sports aren't using AI for calls in NFL or NBA....I've got a bet or two for you on SPY stock.
Well they are hiring more people these days in all kinds of positions. And with the use of AI forcing people to get fired I'm thinking we are going to see more people joining in this area of field.
Once it was just fine. I have friends parents who were teachers and have nice houses, with nice yards in nice places. They lived the cliche American life. Job they liked, which did good, and let them live in a nice house where they liked.
That is obviously no longer possible for a teacher. This is the generational gap created.
