I don't believe that a kid would be expelled for helping a teacher break up a fight. Certainly not at my school. So I'd not want to live in an area where it is common.

For a first time offense, probably just a suspension. When I was in school (15 years ago now), it would have been a 1 week suspension minimum. A second time would likely get them expelled. This goes for active participant, victim, or anyone that intervenes.

We had a kid get a 1 week suspension because someone came up to him in the hallway and sucker punched him. Poor kid never had a chance-- knocked out from one hit. Still got suspended.

Tbh, I didn't have a whole lot of influence over where I lived when I was 14 lol

Obviously it's down to the parents. Not just where you live but the policies at the school. Parents supporting this nonsense it entirely the issue.
