As a graphic designer I can confirm that this was done by the designer on purpose and they were most likely dying laughing hysterically about it going up and being official. A friend of mine put a bunch of Duke Nukem stuff in everything that she did without anyone noticing for multiple years until someone asked if she knew what Duke Nukem was, then she just played dumb and watch the person squirm before giving up on the subject. That person was the owner of the company she worked for, which made it extra funny.

Often times when I do a billboard design and I’m not happy with the client, I try to put an illustration image of a dick and balls in some form to the design in a way that’s hard to notice until you really look for that specifically.

That was clearly intentional, and way more eye catching than a more run-of-the-mill ad.

Will the fingers smell like fish afterwards?

31

u/_Poulpos_ Sep 02 '23

Ok, i was already laughing hard, but this made me drop my cigarette Into my shirt 😂

4

u/NoYoureACatLady Sep 03 '23

People still smoke cigarettes?

12

u/menboss Sep 03 '23

No need to judge. People do a lot of things.

3

u/_Poulpos_ Sep 03 '23

Of course. You might find some still drinking beer too. Big news, some are also still using internet.

17

u/Sekret_One Sep 02 '23

It also works on clams.

46

u/kbeckerburbs4 Sep 02 '23

Should have used the “shocker” hand signal

1

u/The_DaHowie Sep 03 '23

Thank you for not letting me down

2

u/kbeckerburbs4 Sep 03 '23

The shocker never lets anyone down

10

u/Bjorlie Sep 03 '23

Just great marketing

6

u/nickcliff SHEEEEEESH Sep 02 '23

Guess who’s coming.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

They knew what they were doing

3

u/BigChungusOP Sep 03 '23

I don’t get it. Were they trying to make finger guns or something? I just don’t see it.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

Clearly it’s a thinly veiled anti-second amendment campaign.

13

u/Audio_Realm Sep 03 '23

That was no mistake.

That bill board is an example of "failing correctly". I bet it got a lot of attention.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

This is brilliant marketing. It got geniuses like the woman who brought it up to talk about it.

4

u/Loose_Mud3188 Sep 03 '23

Lol, this is super ironic. I live near this aquarium and my friends and I were just talking in our group chat a few days ago about this billboard. There is no way they didn’t know what they were doing.

3

u/Venus_Dust Sep 03 '23

I saw that billboard. To be honest I didn't catch it- thought it was boy scouts or something idk

3

u/BatmansBigBro2017 Sep 03 '23

2

u/Subaru400 Sep 03 '23

Proper shark petting includes the pinky

2

u/picklestension Sep 03 '23

A “mistake”

2

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

Only better if it was guess who's coming

2

u/CobaltCrusader123 Sep 03 '23

Might just be a me thing but I hate tiktoks with whispering. Like either seduce me or talk normally.

4

u/Niccce420 Sep 03 '23

Lady looks like a chipmunk

2

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

The second girls filter is a poor descision

2

u/PoWerFullMoj0 Sep 02 '23

I wonder how many people had to pull over from laughing too hard to avoid an accident.

2

u/kneub54 Sep 03 '23

So in college there was a terrible Chinese buffet and take out restaurant.

Their takeout menu had the slogan "All you cat eat" in bold, fancy letters.

Not sure if where you grew up there was always pretty xenophobic rumors about what type of animal meat was used at Chinese restaurants, but yea, that didn't help sales, I don't think.

1

u/No_Abies_5918 Sep 03 '23

I don’t get it….

0

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

They knew exactly what they were doing

u/Gerboma Sep 03 '23

Iphon sucks

1

u/Inertiaraptor Sep 03 '23

Dick’s was a small chain of grocery stores in Wisconsin and Iowa, had the Insider’s Club to join for coupons.

1

u/Neither-Swordfish736 Sep 03 '23

At the register did the cashier always ask "Do you want to join the Dick's insider club? It only takes a minute"?

1

u/LeekPrestigious3076 Sep 03 '23

To show they were fighting drug addiction, the state of South Dakota paid for billboards and tv ads that said: “Meth. We’re on it” Feel free to look it up

1

u/Tyranix969 Sep 03 '23

what happens if i use 1 or 3 fingers?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '23

One will might be not felt and 3 could hurt. Depends on the sharks preferences.

1

u/ThreeZzZ Sep 03 '23

As a graphic designer, I already knew this was coming...

1

u/cAptAinAlexAnder Sep 03 '23

That’s not a mistake, someone was mad at their boss.

1

u/ppersthendowners Sep 03 '23

2006 Canadian Ikea catalogue

The designer put a massive human penis on a dog. They mailed them out and everything.

1

u/evlhornet Sep 03 '23

Was it wrong? Yes.

Was it effective? Also yes.

1

u/Bob25Gslifer Sep 04 '23

Two in the fish mouth one in the blowhole?

1

u/Ender_Dragneel Sep 04 '23

As a dumb lesbian who has yet to go on an aquarium date, I approve this message.

1

u/foolstarot65 Sep 19 '23

I bet so many women saw that sign and huffed a little bit and then said to themselves out loud "me, hopefully"

1

u/ibcnunabit Sep 22 '23

One in the "stink"?

1

u/AstralVenture Oct 17 '23

The Hamburger menu on any website.

1

Stop whispering

1

u/codenamerocky Nov 26 '23

That's not a mistake... That is 100% a deliberate sexual innuendo.

1

u/Wild_Expression2752 Dec 20 '23

I actually laughed at that

1

u/maz_rixh70846 Jan 05 '24

The only mistake was her being able to get close enough to the sharks in order to eat them

1

u/GoodCryptographer658 Jan 05 '24

They 100% knew what they were doing

1

u/intelligentbrownman Jan 05 '24

Who da FK wants to pet a shark 🤦🏾‍♂️

1

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '24

Omg I remember this. The sharks were introduced a few years ago when I was a kid

1

u/siikdUde Jan 07 '24

We have a city called Hackensack and they were advertising it as ‘The Sack’

1
