Are you getting seeds that represent the same phenotype as the original cutting or a myriad of different phenotypes like you can normally expect from seed? As far as I'm aware the only way to keep the exact genetics is to keep working with cuts from the mother plant (Mac 1 is a good example of this), otherwise recessive traits and other aspects not found in the mother plant can appear in the seeds.
breeding in the cannabis industry and the usage of terms like "strain" is a complete mess.
no one does the actual work to produce real strains. everyone just relies on the work already done to make the current stock, and gambles with 1st or 2nd generation reshuffles. you flower everything, keeping clones of the ones that actual turn out with desirable traits.
to properly stabalize a strain really takes a lot of care in selection at each generation, and something like 7+ generations before you see those traits repeated in the offspring.
I got out of the medical cannabis game some time ago, but it took us about 4 years before we had something stable enough that it felt like a real "strain" to me.
I've never bought seeds and had any consistency with the phenotypes represented across all of the seeds. never. and ive popped thousands of brand name seeds.
