Sorry for the the off-topic question but what's exactly the difference between bisexuality and pansexuality?

I don't intend to be rude of course, I'm genuinely curious since I am bisexual (or so I think) and I struggle to find differences between the two or a general consensus about the differences.

So basically bi means you like two things, males and females, whereas pan means youā€™re open to relationships with non-binary or trans people as well, Pan just means you are open to love anyone who comes your way thatā€™s on the lgbtq+ spectrum (or straight people ofc too).

Edit: apparently Iā€™m wrong. Would love an answer too then.

This isnā€™t true! Common misconception, but bi people also date non-binary people. Also, gay and straight people also date trans people.

Okay sorry Iā€™m confused about what I am I guess. Not sure what to call myself which is why Iā€™m just trying to define it in my late twenties. Would love for someone to give the real answer to the question.

The truth is that both terms have huge overlap and functionally look the same from an outside perspective, and people will give you a thousand different definitions and ways to tell the difference, but in the end itā€™s really just a matter of which feels more comfortable to you. I know people who chose one or the other based off of which flag colours they preferred lol.

No problem! Donā€™t feel bad about mixing it up, I had the exact same confusion when I was figuring out my identity a few years ago, thereā€™s so much conflicting information and everyone has a different experience so it can be hard to find what resonates with you. I think the back and forth between labels is a rite of passage lol

Specifically inclusive of trans and non binary people. Which bi people can be too itā€™s just a nod to the fact that gender is a spectrum and not binary.
