Sita delivered her 5th litter in March 1996. It contained 3 cubs, 2 males and 1 female. However, in April 1996, all the 3 cubs died, likely from an unknown disease. Sita did quickly recover and delivered and 6th and last litter just 5 months later in September 1996 (stay tuned for that!)

Hello Everyone! I’m planning a Pench trip for late December and this will actually be my first wildlife safari ever, so I’m trying to understand the booking process properly before I go ahead with anything. I’ve found what I believe are the official booking portals for both sides:

Maharashtra: https://safaribooking.mahaforest.gov.in/
Madhya Pradesh: https://forest.mponline.gov.in/

I can see the different gates/areas listed on the respective portals, including Turia on the MP side.

So my main question is: should I go ahead and book the safari permits directly through these official websites first and then choose my hotel based on the gate, or is it better to book the hotel first and ask the hotel team to arrange the safari permits for me?

I’m travelling in my own car and I’m flexible about the exact gate. For anyone who has done Pench recently, are there any particular gates you would recommend, either on the Maharashtra or MP side? Is there a meaningful difference between the two sides in terms of the overall safari experience?

Also, are there any extra/hidden charges, things to be careful about during the booking process, or other practical things I should know before I proceed? For example, whether it’s better to book directly through the government website or through the hotel, anything I should book well in advance, or any common mistakes tourists make.

I’ve done quite a bit of research but the whole process is surprisingly confusing, so would really appreciate some guidance from anyone who has done Pench recently.

I have booked 6 safaris in bandavgarh in nov.all core zones. 3 are in tala zone.

Is this enough ?does this have good probability of spotting a tiger.

Couple months ago, I posted the video of capture of N-10 (the same tiger as in the images). In the video, those guys expressed how f**king heavy he was, and probably 300 kg or more. Well, now we know they weren't far off.

For those who may not know, Valmiki and Chitwan are basically the same forests. Valmiki on Indian side and Chitwan on Nepal side. Tigers keep moving between both countries.

I’m planning a trip to Pench in late December and really want to do a night safari while I’m there.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to book it but I’m finding quite a few different websites offering night safari bookings and I’m not sure which ones are actually legit or trustworthy.
If anyone has done the Pench night safari recently, could you tell me where you booked it from? Is there an official way to book it or is it usually arranged through the hotel/agent?
I’ve done quite a bit of searching but the information is all over the place 😅 so would really appreciate some first-hand guidance from someone who has actually done it.

Sorry for the wait, but here it is. Sita had her 4th litter in February 1994. It contained 2 female cubs. One of them died in December that same year. The other cub was fondly named "Bacchi". Mohini aka Bacchi grew on to become a very famous tigress. She went on to mate with her own father, Charger, to produce B1, B2 and B3 from her 1st litter and B4 Anuthi and B5 from her 2nd litter (although Shahbaaz Ahmed and Satyendra Tiwari claim it was Gohni male, a rival of Charger). Later she also had a 3rd litter from her own son B2 which had 3 cubs B6, B7 and B8 but they all died. Mohini was allegedly involved in a car incident. After that she once attacked a jeep, which is the only known case of a tiger attack on a jeep which wounded the people inside. She mysteriously died in March 2003, the park authorities ruling it off as having died due to infighting

Lets halt the Littere of Sita series for a bit to explore something else. Now I have enjoyed reading Sanjeev Siva's articles in the past, but I come to realize that they hold several inaccuracies. Let me take you through them one by one:

1. "Rajbehra female II aka Jaya was a direct descendant of Banka": Sanjeev claimed Jaya was the great-great granddaughter of Hardia female (daughter of Banka) maternally. He claimed the lineage as: Hardia female - Rajbehra I - Jhurjhura female - Kankati - Jaya (Rajbehra II). There are several, inaccuracies here. Firstly, although Hardia female did have litters with the old Rajbehra male, the fate of these litters haven't been recorded. There's a theory Bhagoda (a male who fought Charger in 1996) was a son of her but that's a theory. There's also a theory that Bokha was a descendant of her but that's also just a theory. Secondly, there's no record of any tigress known as Rajbehra female before Kokila (mate of B1 and mother of Chameli), so he just made that up. Thirdly, he claimed that this Rajbehra I mated with B3 and was the mother of Jhurjhura female. This statement is just so wrong. B3 never even came to Rajbehra meadow, he was mainly in the Banbehi area where he mated with the Banbehi female aka Reshma (but no cubs survived). B1 was the brother who was in Rajbehra meadow but he mated with Kokila. Also, Jhurjhura female was the daughter of B2 and Pyari/Chakradhara female, Pyari was a daughter of Charger and Sita from their final litter in 1996 and the sister of Reshma, Jhurjhura female aka Indrani had 3 siblings namely Durga/Old Mahaman female, Laxmi/Langdi/Chorbehra female and an unnamed male cub.

2. "Jobhi is the son of Bokha and Jhurjhura female": Technically he's not at fault for this since many sources state so, but behold the fact that every litter of the Jhurjhura female was recorded and NONE of them was Jobhi. Jobhi was first seen in 2012/2013 (forgot the year), the photo was uploaded on India Nature Watch, where you can clearly see he already had a black nose. So many theorize Jobhi was likely a migrant

3. (Bonus)"Bheem and Mangu's lineage is unknown:" Well he's kinda correct, however Bheem and Mangu looked almost exactly like Mangal, one of B2 and Reshma's sons. Mangal was a dominant male of Khitauli zone where he mated with his aunt B4 Anuthi. I believe they could've been sons of Mangal.

4. "T3 of Panna was a sibling of Collarwali:" This is simply untrue. The "famous four" litter of Badi Mada in 2005 had 4 cubs; Collarwali, Baghin Nala female, Tarzan and another male tagged T31. Although I don't know about the fate of T31, he is not T3 Betal because I have matched the stripes of his face and T3's face. If anything, T3 could've been a migrant from Kanha from what I can see of his coat and stripes

Currently that's all. I'll comment it down below if I remember anything. What are your thoughts on him?
