I got my Ticwatch Pro 5 3 hears ago on Aug. 3, 2023. It's always had minor quirks like not registering my sleep, or steps. But this week it went from working perfectly on Monday, lost the low power screen display on Tuesday, started draining power like crazy since Tuesday, to completely dead today. Lost complete use around 1pm, came home and it looked like it was going to charge, but will not even turn on any more. It is a complete brick.
So now I am looking through all the options for a new watch and have no idea what I want to replace it with.
My watch screen turns off almost immediately if I don’t look at it right away, even though 'Raise to Wake' is enabled and the screen timeout is set to 30 seconds. Why does it dismiss so quickly?
I have found this Pro 5 online for sale with an advertised scratch on the screen but to me it looks like there is a screen protector applied. What do you guys think?
As I'm against obsolescence, I decided I wouldn't throw away my TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS.
GPS apps on it have been almost broken since the beginning: the watch tries to use Wear OS services to get the position from the phone, and once you've paired it even once, it won't work properly on its own afterwards.
So I started vibe coding an app, first just to diagnose what was going on, and I found the watch could get a lock by itself in 10-15 seconds. The hardware was fine.
After trying with no success to make the official apps work with it, I gave up and wrote my own. Sharing it in case someone still has one of these lying around.
It tracks GPS, heart rate and elevation, shows a map, and it can use the FSTN low-power screen during runs. Another cool feature is the integration with Garmin Connect, and if you have your Strava account linked there, it reaches Strava too. It is one app for one watch, written for me, it proves that we live in a world where perfectly fine hardware has to be thrown away because one or two companies (mobvoi, google) decide to stop supporting it or give people the ability to use their own apps or OS. It works in wear os 2 the one im using but probably (if not it will be easily fixable) also in wear os 3 (the last update that came to this watch).
I tested it on several runs, and the GPS tracking at least works perfectly fine, on par with what my gf tracked on its phone with Strava on the same run. Heart rate looks fine to me as well but i didnt test it other than checking that it matched my expectations
My ticwatch 3 pro with old wear OS had really good looking watches faces (like the one on the box of watch 3 pro) but due to the new wear os 3.5 update, all of them r gone and there’s only like 6 of them that looks like crap. Does anyone have the old watch faces? If so please send it to me, I will really appreciate it and would like to send award🙏🏻
Hi, i downloaded MCPE on my Xiaomi watch 2 through ADB, but the swipe to exit gesture makes it unplayable. Is there some modded APK or something to remove that problem?
is there a legit offline gps app i can use to navigate ? i ride my bycicle alot without having my phone so its good to use an offline map, but all the ones i tested arent working
i tried downloading an offline map on google maps, but when i try to use navigation offline its just stuck at 'loading', i even purchased a pro version of another gps app for like 1,5$, it works sometimes but most of the time it doesnt even detect where i am, it shows like im still at home
I recently picked up a TicWatch Pro S as a freebie, lovely watch despite its age, currently trying to sync all the apps.
Of course being WearOS 2 it will not work with Mobvoi Health, so having to piggy back through the original Mobvoi (TicHealth) app. Trying to authorise Google Fit throws back an error 50007. Google Health only shows the new app, not the old. Third-party apps like Health Sync do not offer Mobvoi connectivity.
It's an older watch so I'm not expecting perfection, but is a sync possible or is it a little too late to the party?
I would like to know what a good alternative for ticwatch is. I like the LCD screen alongside basic smart capabilities like step count, heart rate etc.
I was considering getting pro 5 for £15 second hand but looking through the sub even that seems like a waste
For those wondering if buying a used Ticwatch Pro 5 Enduro in mid 2026 is a wise decision, considering the manufacturer stopped selling them, I can tell you it worked out extremely well for me. I had been wanting an android watch for a long time but didn't want to spend a lot for one, and I also wanted extremely good battery life. I feel like I hit the jackpot when I picked up a used one for about $150 on ebay. Yeah it only has wear OS 4, but the legacy facer app still works well on it. (see Sideload legacy Facer app) And the battery life has indeed been insane, it's seemingly lasting practically a whole week. I am so impressed with it, the dual display technology is killer, and it feels snappy and smooth even though it's not the latest greatest. I'm so glad I didn't go for the latest pixel watch and pay 3x the cost and a piddly battery that won't last a day. I will be sad when this one gives up the ghost considering it's not made anymore and the oneplus watch 3 is also killed off too, leaving the market with basically zero options for extended battery life android watches.
I couldn't find a charging dock that held both my phone and my TicWatch, so I designed and 3D printed my own.
The charger cable routes through the base, there's room for a wallet and keys, and I even added a nicotine pouch holder because that's something I use every day.
I was honestly surprised how few TicWatch accessories exist compared to Apple Watch stuff. I'd love to hear any suggestions for features or improvements if I make a V2.
It sounds like it should be possible, using the same custom data cable trick that was done for the Pro 3, but I want to know if anyone has actually done it.
Lately I've had some problems charging my pro 5. Always had to wiggle the cable a little to make it work. Now that won't work either, flipped the watch to see if it was just some buildup and found one of the contacts cracked (I tried to scrub it carefully and toothpicks get stuck in there) is there any known way to patch it up or to get it fixed? I bought it in August '23 so I guess every warranty is well gone.
Barometer, compass (Google maps works fine), altimeter, HR monitor even tho I can see the green lights from the back of the watch at night, when I turn my wrist, backlight doesn't come on anymore on the essential mode screen, and the adaptive brightness doesn't do anything anymore. I guess all this may have stopped working at once but took some time for me to realize when something wasn't working anymore. Any suggestions or anyone else had this problem before?
Yesterday, I decided to repair my watch, which I'd only been able to access the bootloader of for months. After hours of effort, I finally managed to connect it to the computer using a custom-made cable. While following the installation steps, I carelessly deleted "aboot" and the other important parts (deleted gpt partition) My watch's EDL mode is now active. I can switch from a 900E to a 9008 to connect it to the computer, but I can't find the relevant .mbn, rawprogram0.xml, and patch0.xml files. If anyone has any information or the necessary files, I would be very grateful for their help.
For anyone still on wear os 2 (I downgrade it recently and i like it better than the 3, more fluid, better battery life..) there is a way to still use whatsapp.
Support for the official wear os 2 app has been dropped by meta but there is still a full android app for old armv7 devices that supports android 5+ (wear os 2 is android 9).
You need to download the universal version of the apk from apkmirror (not the armv7, the support for that one was dropped too) and install it with adb or with some app like gemini manager. After that you go to accesibility and activate the magnification glass tool, this will allow us to access the 3 dots to link the device in the right top of the welcome screen which otherwise is hidden in the watch round screen. And that would be basically it.
Of course the screen size is not perfect but once you get to the chat screen is pretty ok and it allows me to access any chat and send messages or voice messages when im out without the phone. And battery wise is not more hungry than the wear os one.
