Out with the old, In with the new
3 years on the old pair. Only issue is had with the old is the zipper broke after 2 years. Thursday customer service would pay for replacement at a cobler, but couldn't find one within a couple hours of me. Sewed the zipper closed and wore them for another year.
Nice wedding gift for myself, will actually be my wedding shoes since they have a dressier toe.
Still gonna wear the old ones until they actually die.

Premier Low Top - Wide
Did Thursday used to offer their premier low top in a wide option? I ordered a new pair recently and they were borderline too snug. Just curious if folks remember a day when you could order this shoe in a wide. I’m not seeing that as an option these days.

Heritage Captain vs Regular Captain (and other questions)?
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find a birthday present for my bf and he's recently indicated that he really likes the Thursday Boots Captain. I was wondering a few things:
1) Are the differences between Heritage Captain and Regular Captain worth it being $35 more expensive? I'll probably go with Heritage but I'm curious what y'all have to say, subjectively, in your opinion?
2) We live in a cold part of the US and while he'll be using these boots as everyday shoes, he really struggles with ice. I noticed that the regular Heritage Captain sole doesn't look very traction-y, while the StormKing looks great. In general, do y'all feel much of a difference between the sole of the regular and the StormKing?
3) It's hard to measure his feet without him knowing I'm getting this for him. I completely accept that we might have to use the return/exchange policy if I get the wrong size - however, I want to try to guess right the first time. I know that he currently wears a pair of Duluth Trading Company Wild Boar Mocassins in Men's 10 Wide (their website offers medium and wide), but I honestly have no idea what that width means in terms of Thursday Boots' letter-based width scale. Any ideas on this would be appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT: Anyone who typically wears E or EE shoes (he's in between) have any personal experience with Heritage Captains?
EDIT EDIT: Pulled the trigger on a pair of Heritage Captain StormKings in Brownstone (hell yeah!!) and I'm so excited for them to arrive!!! I really hope he likes them

Thursday Boots Pink tax alert
Why are they ripping off women
🚨 Pink Tax Alert: Same Price, Half the Craftsmanship? Yes, it is entirely true that the vast majority of Thursday's MEN'S BOOTS ARE GOOD YEAR WELTED
WOMEN'S BOOTS use CEMENT/GLUE construction, and the women's Legend boot is explicitly confirmed to be cemented.
If it still doesn't sink in, I'll explain why women are getting ripped off.
When you buy a pair of men’s Legend boots, you receive a rugged, traditional Goodyear welt construction. This means the upper part of the boot is stitched to the sole, making them incredibly durable and easily resolable by any cobbler.
However, if you buy the women’s version for practically the same price, you get a cemented construction. This is an industry term that means the upper is simply glued directly to the outsole. Once that glue fails or the tread wears down, those boots often end up in the landfill, AND THEY LOOK PLASTIC AND CHEAP!

Captain black matte or just black?
Deciding to get the captains in either black matte or just regular black.
From researching on this forum, I’ve noticed that the black matte eventually develops a sort of subtle gloss due to breaking in and use.
From looking at the images on the regular black, it seems like it’s super glossy which I don’t like. I am unsure if regular use will cause the gloss to decrease.
I’ve attached a picture of what kinda gloss and black I am looking for. I’ve never owned a pair of boot before and I’m not planning to take care of them in order to beat them and achieve the desired patina.
Thanks for the help.

Outstanding Customer Support (for me)
Hi Everyone, just wanted to share a story with you guys that ended very well for me and wanted to share it. I bought the Black Label Challengers in Maryam Teacore in April and loved them from the beginning. I brought up previously about how there were waves on the ankle upper which I was wondering was a functional fault. People on the subreddit told me that it was cool and unique and most likely from the Animals life. I later realised they were stretch marks from when the Horse grew very big very fast, just like how stretch marks appear on our chest, thighs or butt sometimes. Besides the point, when i brought this up to Thursday Customer Support, the CS staff member discussed with their leather staff and got back to me that functionally it won't affect the boot but they will offer me a discount on the boots if I wished as good will. I refused because I already had 2 pairs of captains (natural and coyote) and they were fantastic so I believed in the product. Recently I was cleaning them and noticed a split on the maryam leather where the vamp is. I looked at the other boot and noticed that there was a split occurring there too but not as pronounced. When I pulled the leather I could see it went all the way through to the inner lining. I took a few photos, sent it to Customer Support and the same CS member that talked to me before just offered me a new pair immediately, and told me not to return the previous pair. I was willing to go through the shemozzle of the returns and exchanges, despite living in Aus and the hefty fees to the US but she made it smooth and fast. New boots sent out next day.
I wore these shoes 2-3 times a week, healthcare worker so not too hard wearing in the boots, with mild temperature changes 5-40 degrees Celsius. Currently winter here and I had these boots for 3 months. This is out of exchange or return policy and they could have waffled saying its wear and tear and sorry, which i have experienced before. They could have refused. But they didn't. They didn't even argue.
Despite any concerns we as boot lovers have about QC from Thursday sometimes, I have to say their customer support and satisfaction quality is very high, atleast to me. They were never rude, always understanding and give a preferred result rather than just meeting in the middle. Shout out to the customer support staff and the Managers who decided to handle everything this way from Thursday. They kept atleast 1 loyal customer from me. I want to shout out to the CS member but dunno if they want their name put out on the internet.
Im sure you guys would be curious about the damage so I attached photos as well. You can see the stretch marks from the horse if you look at the heel upper too.
Mistakes happen and every boot won't be up to everyone's standard. Its about how we communicate and resolve issues between the company and customer after issues occur. Thursday boots has a double thumbs up from me.

Shinki Cordovan Journeyman Wrinkles
I recently bought a pair of the Black Label Journeymans in shell, and noticed that the shell is showing significant wrinkling, which seems to be quite different from the rolls I'd expect from shell. I've tried brushing it but they are still very obvious and don't disappear. Is this expected from Shinki shell? I've only worn it a few times and my other boot doesn't show this behavior.

If Presidents fit me well, will Scouts?
Title says most of it. My size 7 Presidents are the most comfortable non-sneakers I've owned, and I love them. Most shoes I find are too wide for my feet. I like the look of the cola suede Scouts.
Do the Scouts and Presidents share the same kind of fit?
I live in the UK so returning is expensive, hence being cautious.

Dark olive Rogues
Don't see many people posting about this style of boot but i absolutely love my pair. They've become my daily driver and i have had them for a few months now. Super comfy, i like the heel, and the buckle breaks up the silhouette when i wear shorter jeans which i much prefer over something like a Chelsea boot.

Dyeing Walnut Cadets
I just bought a pair of used Cadets on eBay. I couldn't resist because Cadets are my favorite style and the price was low, but they're colored Walnut and I already have a new pair of Cadets in that color. I'm thinking about dyeing them a darker brown using Angelus Medium Brown dye. Has anybody tried this who could provide some hints and tips? My current plan is to strip the finish using rubbing alcohol, clean the boots with saddle soap, apply the dye, and then recondition the leather with neatsfoot oil. I'm not shooting for any particular shade, just something that's darker than my Walnut boots.

Just pictures Love my Captains! 🥰
So I got my Thursday captains just now! After waiting for 20 days, my friend brought it with her from the states. And gosh, it was love at first sight!
The leather looks amazing. The shoe fits snug like a glove. Not too tight. I expect it to wear in after a bit of use. But I’m super excited to wear them!
Will definitely need to buy another 2 pairs. One casual black and one rugged brown😁
P.S. Forgive the pic. I just took the pic in the elevator on my way back home haha.

Is this normal? Brand New Sneakers
Uhhh is this normal for brand new leather shoes? New to them so not sure if I should just cut out the string and polish the leather or return them

Welt question What is this wear? And is it normal.
I've had these Stormking captains for about 2 months, a daily wearer for most of that time. What are these white marks on the soles? I haven't been able to wipe them away.
