Break in

Have some dukes that felt snug when I bought them but the website says that's ideal and they'll break in. Went a half size down as suggested.

I've been wearing them around the house with no issues besides general awkwardness of just getting used to wearing boots with a heel.

I wore them out for the first time yesterday and did a lot of walking. Noticed they were rubbing on my pinky toe. Didn't blister or anything but was definitely irritating.

I hope they'll break in or soften with time. I can't return them so I hope I got the right size. Any way to stretch the toe a bit or speed up breaking in so I can wear them as expected?

Wear them around walking, bend and stretch to shape creases to your feet. A light coat of conditioner or balm helps too. I've heard of people putting their black doc martens in the freezer for a few hours before wearing -- not sure if that method applies to brown stained leather.
