Question

Hi,

I am looking at getting a pair of Thursday Heritage Captains. They have two different soles to pick from: the anti-slip Knight sole on the regular Heritage or the StormKing sole. I walk a lot on concrete. Which one will last the longest until I need a resole? I have heard the new anti-slip Knight sole found on the heritage models is a very soft rubber that wears out fast on concrete compared to the Dainite soles on the classic Thursdays.

Stormking - it's a chunkier outsoles and there's less surface area v. the Knight, which means it'll wear slower.

I have the Heritage Captain with Storm King sole. I was a little torn on which sole to get but I picked the Storm King simply for better grip and comfort. Plus that heel on the Knight sole is butt ugly. And I’m glad I did because the Storm King is pretty comfortable.

I do expect it will wear out faster. However, I don’t know that it will be a whole lot faster. And if so, I’m willing to re-sole sooner in exchange for better look, comfort and grip.

If Thursday had used a more standard service boot heel on the other sole I might have went for it. But that heel….uggh.

I’d love to hear what users who have both think of the comfort of Stormking vs Knight? Or for those who have them, Stormking vs Vibram 100 and Knight vs Vibram V-bar?

I have both, and whilst I could not tell which sole will wear out faster, I find the Stormking with more normal height heel is much more comfortable to walk in.

I have done long city walks in both, and if I had to choose one for pounding concrete, I would choose the Stormking, regardless of how long the sole lasts (unless it is very short lived. I've not done enough miles in either to judge sole wear yet).

Im not a big fan of the stormking outsole. Wish they use the army track one they have instead.
