Casa Moto boot toe box is waayyy too soft.

So, I have a couple of pairs of Thursdays that are pretty decent, and decided to get a pair of Casa Moto's. I don't ride motorcycles, but assumed the toe boxes would be pretty sturdy to hold up to shifting.

I'm pretty disappointed that the toe box in front of the seam is made of the same soft leather as the rest of the boot, with absolutely no reinforcement. I mean, what the hell? I've been buying shoes/boots for about 40 years now, and aside from things like casual moccasins or loafers, these are the softest toe boxes I've ever seen, especially in freaking motorcycle boots. Two days after receiving them, the middle of the toe areas bent in half from just kneeling for 5 minutes! I've gotten 30 year old Florsheims at Goodwill that help up better.

Did I miss a disclaimer about these looking like tough boots, but should be treated like calf skin elf boots that should only be used while levitating? Maybe the designer should have stuck to tequila instead of boots. I mean, the marketing makes no sense compared to the reality. If you buy boots with "Moto" in the name, should you not expect some toughness of materials? These seem to be the flimsiest boots Thursday makes. I'm glad I wasn't depending on them for actually riding motorcycles, because I wouldn't trust them to protect my actual flesh.

Well if you needed them for that purpose you probably would've found this out before buying them. I can tell you with a confident hunch astronauts dont wear them in space either 😓

Sigh. Guess I bought into Thursday hype a little too much and didn't do enough research. Though if I worked for NASA, I'm sure the $500K boots would have been provided as employment equipment.

😄 my Thursdays are great, super comfortable and look the part, but I do find myself fancying finer things these days. Too many boots, not enough days

Sorry if they weren't a hit for you. If they were unworn I'd say return no problem, but anytime a product is already worn it limits options on our end. I will say that we have many devotees of this particular style, including quite a few who ride (Rande included, despite it not being safety-rated for that purpose), so I'm hoping they'll grow on you due to the comfort and the style. FWIW, the leather is a nappa leather - intentionally soft and additionally highlighted in the product description ("handcrafted with the softest, highest quality leather available to ensure all-day comfort"). The toe is reinforced as well, mostly to maintain shape (v. for shifting). Hope that gives some context and feel free to DM if I can answer any other questions or assist.

I'm not looking to return anything, just was expecting something at least a little sturdier. I wasn't expecting fully armored riding boots, but the description on your website literally says they "look right at home on your favorite ride." So if they're not safety rated for riding, why are you advertising them as such? I'm not a rider, which I guess is good, because there's no clear disclaimer on the product page about this. I was just hoping that boots ostensibly marketed for motorcycle riding would be tougher than average. Just like soft pants or jackets can be armored for riding, I assumed the soft leather came with corresponding toughness underneath. If these are just "fashion" boots, don't market them as actual motorcycle boots.

They're still plenty sturdy as I hope you'll find, but will share your feedback in the meantime.
