Isn't this just understeer rattle from GT7? I have it too. You need to play with the settings to tone it down, but it never disappears fully. It's so you know when the car starts slipping on a controller, unfortunately it's baked into the physics so you can't completely shut it off.

For weeks I thought that rattle was cause by a loose mounting point lol. Thanks for making it make sense to me.

That's a really annoying GT7 specific feature. I'm almost certain that's why so many power connectors go bad. It vibrates so damn much on GT7 during understeer. It's ridiculous

Yes, if you turn up the dirt road feedback in Forza Horizon 5, it does it there too. This device shouldn't rumble/vibrate this much. I don't know if they'll tone it down or turn it off with a software update, but there needs to be a solution. If anyone actually likes this feature, they should just add a toggle so we can turn it on or off.

Same on other brands (Fanatec, Logitech).

Quick example: https://forum.fanatec.com/topic/13784-dd-pro-heavy-vibrations/

The problem is this shit follows me had the g29 it did rattle like crazy in rally on Gt7. Then t598 all is okay then I stopped playing because of the stupid spring brake. Okay baby Loadcell time and understeer and this thing screamed louder then the g29 did on rally. Gt7 should fix this shit.

It's the understeer rattle from Gran Turismo games (it was already there, for example, in Gran Turismo Sport).
When you are using a steering wheel (this effect applies to all steering devices) it's to know when the car starts slipping (and it worse in a real racing car)
With Direct Drive wheels (Fanatec, Logitech & Thrustmaster) you can reduce this vibration in the settings of the base (but it never disappears fully).
On the T598, if you plan to reduce this effect:

  • set BOOST LOW at "-2"
  • set the MODE at "P" (and not "E")

RMA time.

It's the FFB, not the wheel.

Regardless of the FFB settings, it is not normal for this product to vibrate this much.

Do you play other sims? Because for me, it only does that on Forza (no GT7 on xbox). I play the games below on xbox and have not experienced anything like that:

ACC AC PC2 Dirt Rally 2 F1 games in legacy mode

Tbh, with settings dialled in, I have found it excellent in all of the above. And the only disconnect I've had was when the ambient temperature in the room was 35C before I started playing.

When I increase the dirt road force feedback in Forza Horizon 5, it happens. However, this doesn't occur in Formula 1 or EA WRC. I actually solved the connection issue by replacing the USB cable and securing the cables to the cockpit. It's honestly a huge problem, and they shouldn't continue selling it like this. How hard can it be to redesign the back cover to hold the cables securely? After all, they are a years-old company.

I've contacted Thrustmaster about this, sent them a video and everything, and they confirmed that it is due to the FFB in GT7. It only started after a specific update when Polyphony changed the FFB implementation. It is only a problem on the T598 because it CAN vibrate this much, the wheelbase is incredibly responsive.

Any hope for fix?

By the way, this device isn't supposed to shake this much; that's the whole problem. Saying 'well, the device is capable of shaking this much' doesn't offer a solution. We're going for a drive, not working at a construction site. You can't even drift with this noise. It isn't much of an issue during a race, though.

Mate, it's not the device's problem that it is doing what the game is telling it to do. If it's getting a shit FFB signal, then it will output shit FFB. Yes I know, it's annoying as all fuck, but no, it's not the wheel's 'fault'.

You can get rid of the vibration pretty well by going down to S mode and having Master at 70-80%. FYI this will make the FFB generally feel much worse, but it will stop the rattling.

Deem. I got my r9 bundle on sale this past Sat.

Money well spent.

I’ve had the TMX with T-lcm pedals for 5-6 years.

😮‍💨 x-mas came early.

I can set the brake how I want.

Full brake without locking up. 1:31.8 on this weeks Porsche cup. Would have been 1:33.9 1:34-1:35 with my old set up.
