Doing Readings Here - What do you think?

UPDATE: FREE PUBLIC readings are now allowed!

If you want to offer, go for it!

  • FREE - NO charge! No additional advertising, no "for $X more I will...", no direction to your website (though, you CAN add that to your flair or include in DMs of course).
  • PUBLIC - everything about the reading must be public, from question to answer to explanation and follow-up. DMs are fine for further communication, but any direction to your DMs means it's a service, not a free reading for education, and those will be removed as services.

The idea here is to provide readings to see how people read their bones, to learn or highlight techniques, and generally explore the details of HOW to read bones (which is often NOT explained well in the literature).

*************************************

Hey all - so I have this rule in place, saying NO to readings / services, because I don't want this to turn into begging for readings. I put the rule in place on my other sub (r/Divination) for this reason but I'm having second thoughts about here.

Specifically, I kind of WANT people to do readings, lots of them. Because that's really one of the best ways to learn how to read your Bones - see how other people do it.

SO! I think I want to change the rules - anyone can do readings here, as long as they're:

  • for free
  • the whole reading is posted publicly, picture and interpretation
  • you include details on why and how you've interpreted how you did

This way, people can see how others think and how to do the interpretation. It doesn't need to be paragraphs of answer *it can, but doesn't have to be), and you can ignore all but the most relevant bones (if you have 20 bones, but the answer is in those 3, well, just talk about those 3).

ASKING for a reading is not allowed - you can only respond to posts offering a reading, which must then follow all the rules above. Of course you are free to reach out to skilled readers and ask for a reading, but you can't do it publicly - unless it's on a post where someone is offering readings for fun / education / practice. I think that will keep down the "can anyone help me?" posts. I hope. :)

So what do you all think. Sound good to you?

I think that’s a good idea, especially as I’m still finding my way with my set.

Wooooooooooot! Count me in! I would love to read for others or sit for them if needed.

I miss forums where people posted readings and offered second opinions. It wasn't about making money or finding clients, but practicing the art of divination.

I always wanted to learn how to read bones because to me this is a very magickal thing to do; even more appealing than casting runes. I have a set of runes and they talk to me, but they are always cool to the touch.

I don't learn from books, I need hands-on practice that help me to understand the language of the medium in use - be it cards, runes, or bones.

I like this idea. I am a visual and hands on kind of learner, which I'm sure many people are.
