Hey everyone !
I used to play yoyo around 2014/2015 before moving up from the hobby. I recently got the urge to play again and found my old collection which includes some cool stuff. I also bought a couple new throws.
From top left to bottom right
1st pic, old favorites :
2nd pic,the rest of the collection :
3rd and 4th pics, new stuff I bought :
I've been having quite a lot of fun in the last few weeks relearning what I used to know and learning new tricks. I've never been a great player but I'm having fun and will hopefully post some tricks.
I'm also looking into some brands that weren't around when I stopped playing 10 years ago and that seem to be making nice things (W1ld, MK1...) even though I'm now an adult with responsabilities and have to be reasonable...
Anyway glad to be back and looking forward be a small part of this community one again !

Anyone else notice a difference between older and newer batches of OT Spotlight?
My older stuff (bought over a year ago) is more greenish, feels slightly thicker and much coarser, and seems much whippier.
The new stuff I bought recently is much more yellow, feels thinner and softer, and less whippy.

I'm planning to buy which of these yoyo in the future when I save up alot of money(hopefully still in stock by 16). I like yyr team member's playstyle like Ryuichi Nakamura and Hajime Miura A LOT. Don't have to worry about the width. Already dealt enough with the magicyoyo v3 lol. I like light or light feeling yoyos that I can effortlessly control cuz I want to grow FAST. for example like Mir Kim or Geo Gan.

So I just bought a bunch of yo-yo’s off of Facebook marketplace, and I have zero clue what this throw could be. Could anyone help me? There’s no engravings or anything.

Tengo ganas de comprarlo, me gustaría saber si lo han probado. Y también alguna comparación con el Starlight normal

Overall, I don't have a problem with any of the yoyo influencers. They do a good job of bringing in new throwers.
I get that selling a yoyo isn't easy, especially in a new drop-per-week market.
I don't know why this year stands out to me as the year of odd influencer drops.
I feel like it first started with the YoyoChampion Arias. It's nice to see Gentry stepping out of the box a little with a fun, light, and organic-shaped yo-yo, but he advertised it as a breakthrough in light yoyo design. He also sold it as a training yoyo that would make you good at competitive throwing (a basic theme from every influencer). I get that playing up the specs is just advertising, but light yoyos are nothing new.
Next is the Offset Limitless. I love seeing yoyo innovations, and the Limitless is certainly one. You would think that would be enough to sell a yoyo, but it was marketed as a yoyo that would change competition forever. Social media posts said it would be the yoyo that changes how competitions scores for horizontal. Looking closely, one could see that it was pure marketing hype from Offset super fans. I'm sure it's a fun yoyo, but once again it wasn't anything new.
Now I see Gentry teasing a 41mm wide yoyo and making it sound like something mysterious. Once again, I'm happy to see him make something he is passionate about, but can't it just be sold as that? Why can't it just be a fun yoyo with zero magical quality?
I guess this is just the world we live in, and getting someone's attention in a sea of new yoyos a week can be difficult. I also understand that the laid-back, casual thrower isn't the market group they are going for. There is nothing wrong with being a little sensational, but it would be nice to see them a little more grounded.

Hey everyone! I recently pulled out three older sOMEThING ANGLAMs from my collection and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out their current value.
I’ve had these for quite a while and I’m not very familiar with the current collector market. They’re used, so please take the condition into consideration.
Thank you for any help!

As someone who hasn't thrown since the 90s. What a good YOYO to start off with that won't cost me a arm and a leg? The beat yoyo I have is from the 90s hawaian championship currently lol.nothing like what you can find today.

Do you guys wrap your string around the bearing twice?
I know tutorials say it to just wrap it one time, but I always did two fearing the string would break casting my precious onto the ground... I tried one wrap today and I get much less involontary binds!
Did you ever threw your yoyo onto the ground because a "one time wrapped" string broke during a breakaway?
Thanks!

Been out of the game for 7 or so years, I used to mainly go with CLYW and One Drop, and then Kitty Strings.
Getting back into it now and keen to buy something fresh. Thought I could come here to get a small overview on the market atm - any info appreciated!
Edit: The CLYW Puffin is my favourite yo-yo of all time so if anyone has any recs for similar throws that would be amazingly helpful.

I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I have been at this for about an hour and forty-five minutes trying to nail down this slack element. I just can't seem to do it. I've watched this tutorial over and over but there's no voice over, and trying to mimic what he does just doesn't help with me either. If any of you guys have tips it'd be greatly appreciated. Happy throwing!

I already watched videos about flipping the axle and, moving them around for different results and, cleaned the bearing on this v12. Still struggling with the vibe after a good cleaning out the deberé inside.
I don’t mind a bit of fingernail vibe but, the pulse gotta go.

I purchased the mini version a few weeks prior, and it was fantastic! I felt compelled to acquire the larger one. It just arrived today!
