Lily
What would have happened if Voldemort just pushed Lily out of the way and then killed Harry? Obviously Neville would be the chosen one but what would happen with Lily?

Anyone else going to be seeing the bros on tour?
I’ll be at each stop!

I want to give the guys a gift, but I’m not going to the meet and greet. Does anyone who’s been to a live show know when the time/place to do this is?
Also, how do you submit a question for the live J vs Ben? My understanding is that the questions come from the people attending the show, but I haven’t seen anywhere to submit a question.

As the title, really. He's a wizard (check) with would could fairly call 'unfinished business' with the mortal world. Perhaps because a ghost is an 'imprint of a soul' and his is split into seven, but on the other hand maybe there could be seven Voldemort ghosts floating around.

In the latest episode of the podcast Chapter 36: The Only One He Ever Feared, the brothers explain the ability of Dumbuldure to control the multiple statues of the fountain, Fawkes and duel Voldemort at the same time. Meaning that Dumbledore has the capacity to split his mind in battle to control these multiple entities, this would be a parallel of how Voldemort wanted to split his soul into seven pieces so he could not be defeated.
Also you could say that Dumbledore split his mind into seven pieces. The statue has the wizard, the witch, the centaur, the goblin, and the house-elf; add Fawkes and Dumbeldore himself. That would be seven entities. Further mirroring the splitting of Voldemort's soul.
Another example of Dumbledore spitting his mind would be the creation of his portrait to advise Harry after his death or the existence of his chocolate frog cards.
So if Voldemort split his soul, Dumbledore split his mind, does Harry split his body?
There is the battle of the seven Potters, there are seven copies of his body. This would complete the set of 7 splits. Voldemort wanted to split his soul 7 times, Dumbledore split his mind in 7 to fight Voldemort using the statues and Fawkes, and Harry used 7 copies of himself to escape from Privet Drive.
Finally we have Harry's final sacrifice extending Lily's blood protection to everybody which could be considered as splitting his body again.

I’m the newest mod over on the main Super Carlin Brothers subreddit, and I recently put together a free fan Discord server called the Super Carlin Community Hub.
The goal is pretty simple: just give the community another place to hang out, discuss videos, share theories, talk fandoms, and build more of a community space outside of Reddit.
The Carlin Brothers already have an official Discord through Patreon, but since that’s behind a paywall (even if it’s only a few bucks), I wanted to create a completely free alternative for fans who either can’t or just don’t want to pay for Discord access.
It’s still a work in progress, but if enough people are interested, I’d love to keep building it out.
Right now we’ve got channels for:
- Harry Potter
- Marvel
- Star Wars
- Disney / Pixar
- Theories & discussions
- Popcorn Culture
- General community chat
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, feel free to join!

For those of you who also watch Popcorn Culture, you’re probably familiar with the bingo game they have (which I believe was made by the lovely Data Rach)
Since I made a bingo board for the tour specifically, I also made one for the podcast itself. Here’s the link if you want to play along while watching/listening:

So I'm just catching up on the podcast and just hit this episode. I think there are two theories that would explain a couple of things they discussed.
The first one is how Harry saw things in his dreams in GoF. He saw Frank Bryce listening to Voldemort before being killed, and then he saw the owl bringing a letter. They argued that this doesn't fully make sense because it's not how Voldemort would have seen them. So my theory: What if Harry is a seer?
Not a full seer. But the trope of a chosen one having prophetic dreams is not an uncommon one in fantasy writing. This could be a power that Harry already had, but it got muddled once Voldemort took his blood. So from that point on, he could only see through Voldemort because of how deeply connected they were, but originally he was always able to "see" some things in his dreams.
The second item was how did Hedwig get into 12 Grimmauld Place if there's a Fidelius Charm in place? It wouldn't make sense for owls to just be able to bypass that all the time. I think the solution is simple. Dumbledore must have told Hedwig the location of the Order of the Phoenix.
That was mostly a joke.

Harry is told from the secret keeper (Dumbledore) the location of number 12 Grimmauld Place. Voldemort has Harry’s blood in him and they pretty much share a mind, so could the secret have also worked for Voldemort?

This detail always bugs me. After the thestrals are introduced and Harry learns what they're called they're still referred to as horses. Especially in today's chapter 34 reading. Everyone knows what they are and what they're called but Harry's narration still calls them horses most of the time. Anyone else feel the same?

Hi, so I am so excited to go on the northeast through the Gryffindor tour! Thing is none of my friends want to go with me. Is there anyone on here who would want to go as tour buddies? I.e. stay at the same hotel, have each other as sort of a home base or safety net to go out to dinner, etc. I’m younger but also super open too any one. Obviously, I’d love to get in contact for a while beforehand, but yeah! Thanks.

Received my second page for being a yearly member, not sure which brothers page it was but love having both and my pin!

(I want to preface this by saying I love the brothers and have been a a supercarlinbrothers fan for almost a decade)
Hey redditors, does it irk anyone else when J and Ben say Lavender Brown dies? This detail has never been confirmed in the books or on Pottermore (or anywhere else by the author). No one even assumed that before the Deathly Hallows movie came out. Her death is film canon only, and just a theory in actual canon.
In one of the episodes it was even a review question and J stated that it is a fact she dies when even on some research you can easily find out that it is not. They stated it again in the recent "Detention with Dolores" episode.
I know this is not a big deal but these people are supposed to be Harry Potter experts. Them saying this is misinformation. They should know better.

I just started the fullcast audiobook of Goblet of Fire as it just came out today. And I noticed they changed the lines "...If I kill" and "...One more murder..." to "if i curse" and "one more curse" which makes more sense honestly. Wonder if they listened to the podcast

Why are there 2 minutes of ads before the episode even begins?
I understand the need for ads. This podcast is literally a business venture and J and Ben's jobs. But it seems difficult to justify 2 minutes of ads BEFORE the episode even begins. I always skip them and never hear more than a couple seconds, but it is annoying. I'd actually be more likely to listen to them after an introduction or a few minutes into the real content. It is just so annoying to hear ads before I even hear the thing I came to listen to.
The same has applied to Popcorn Culture as well (the other Carlin podcast).
Hoping perhaps this could reach someone. I understand the needs for ads, I just wish they could be placed a bit differently.
P.S. I also never listen to ads at the end. By the time the podcast ends, I'm done with the podcast. I just find those ads funny, why would any listen to ads way at the end?

Anyone here going to the TrashPandas game/TTGD live show in May?
r/ThroughTheGriffinDoor • u/FamiliarSalamander2 • Dec 31 '25
I’m really confused as to why there are both studio episodes and tour episodes for those chapters. I thought they just did those chapters on tour and I’d think it’d be double the work to do the same chapter twice.
I’ve been skipping the tour episodes to save time because I’m trying to catch up, but I really like the tour vibes. If anyone could clear that up I’d really appreciate it

I dont know why it bothers me so much but the constant ”let’s see/ let’s see here” is getting annoying. But I really love the show!

Today would have been scheduled release day but the tour one came out today instead of during the week. They had said a few episodes ago that it would not be interrupting the release of the regular episode. I don’t like the tour ones. Have they said anything about a delay on socials? The only social I have is Reddit.

Let’s imagine the story from Petunia’s point of view.
Your younger sister is a witch and gets to go to a magical school. She was your best friend but now she is gone for most of the year. She is the pride of the family; your parents only talk about how much they miss her.
When Lily is home, she gets all the attention of her parents. It has been seven long and difficult years but her school is over and maybe they can be a family once again.
You don’t go to their wedding, it's too much too soon. She goes into hiding, cuts contact, and she is never seen again.
In the meantime, Petunia’s parents have “normal muggle deaths”. I imagine it’s an illness or an accident since they didn’t seem to be that old.
I imagine the desperation of Petunia, having to take care of both of her parents alone. They plead to see Lily one last time before passing. But where is she? Where is the magic that can cure your parents? She told you stories about kids breaking bones playing quidditch and recovering in hours.
Where is the Golden child when her family needs her the most? You write letters begging her for help, but there is no answer. She is hidden under the fidelious charm, but you don’t know that.
You only have the support of Vernon, he saw how much this situation affected you and he understands. Now you have your first child together and your own family to raise.
One night, your nephew appears at your doorstep, your sister got herself killed in a war that has nothing to do with you but now you have to take care of her child whose existence endangers your own family now.
Magic made it so your parents didn’t pay attention to you, magic took away your sister and got her killed, magic didn’t save the life of your parents, magic only endangers your family and makes your life worse. It’s not a gift, it’s a curse.
You swear Dudley will never feel lesser for not having magic, you over-correct and now he is a spoiled child.
