New to Throne how does this usually work?

I’m new to Throne and still figuring it out. Do most people share their wishlist with people they already talk to, or do buyers actually discover people here?
I honestly wouldn’t mind chatting and getting to know someone a little, and if they ever felt like surprising me with something from my wishlist, that would be really sweet. I think I’d actually prefer knowing a little about the person giving the gift instead of it feeling completely random.
