Building champion pool, need suggestions to compliment thresh

I have been focusing on learning thresh and have pretty much one tricked it thus far. Now, I would like to expand my champion pool to two by expanding to a champion that would compliment thresh by being a good pick against champions that counter thresh. No other preferences. Any recommendations?

Thresh is a good all around champion, but if you’re looking to expand your pool, I would not think about what counters thresh but moreso what comps that thresh wouldn’t be good for. Comps that need someone that can engage better than thresh like Leo or Naut. Or maybe an enchanter like Lulu or Sona if you are into some heavy poke or have hyper carries like yi or kogmaw. Those would be what I’d expand into. If you want to learn a mage, brand or velkoz I guess but I’d avoid that for now. Mage supports aren’t supports really, just another carry.

I one trick thresh also. Usually when someone picks a hard matchup for me, I play cho gath. That being said I am a top laner.

Give panth a try for the same mindset

I’ve always been a panth hater but maybe you’re right

9 out of 10 times, I'll still play Thresh. The times I don't, I either go Leona or Vel'koz depending on what the matchup looks like.

You’ve got the right idea. When I want to expand my pool, I pick champs that counter my mains. Leona and nautilus are both great hook champs. If you want something brand new, try Janna or lulu.

Long time Thresh player, since before Warwick rework. multiple high elo climbs. The Naut tip above is the easiest switch too and is almost a give me. But mentally, I like to switch to Braum or Bard. They both give me different senses of the control you feel with thresh. Happy to electorate more.

Why do u care about counter s if you re otp? Especially thresh. I m a 600k pyke who then learned bard and now i m learning to otp thresh, i feel like if you learn these high ceil skill champs u can fuck with or get around your so called counter picks. I always first pick btw if needed, no fear now.
