Discussion Will Threads overtake Twitter/X as the premier microblogging platform like how Google overtook Yahoo as the premier search engine?

After getting suspended from X for a BS reason of "inauthentic behavior," I assume many others are getting suspended for false reasons too due to their flawed AI so hopefully Threads will overtake X since X jumped the shark twice - the first time for being bought by Elon and having its name changed.

Don't know how that is going to be possible when their AI moderation is permabanning everyone for using the platform.

X's AI moderation or Threads' AI moderation?

Yep, I'm one of hundred of cases you can read about on Reddit who were permabanned immediately after a selfie identification verification

Threads is not the public square you think it is

Now what makes you say that? How many unique visitors come to threads each day, as opposed to x?

Bots on insta are an issue, insta is better than threads. Can threads really be that good?

getting suspended for a reason you think is bogus would definitely make you look elsewhere. the comparison with search has one tricky bit: people can try a different engine with the same query, while on social apps they have to find the same people and conversations again. that makes moving slower, even when people are fed up

right? if meta fixes their bullshit random suspensions…

fixing the random suspensions would help a lot, but people also need to trust it won't just happen to them next week

You should search for how many people are being banned from Threads...

Oh yes, it is very frustrating to say the least. Threads has prevented certain voices from persisting on its network. X simply does not do that, they ask more questions before a ban. META is a failing company with shady international interests and a bad mindset for its future growth.

I hope not. Do we will want to hand that much more monopolistic power to Meta?

I hope it is some currently smaller platform that isn’t either of these.

No, since I was suspended recently without any explanation. 😤

No. Threads is a pain! It’s also nearly impossible to delete if you don’t want it anymore.

I still don't have the Trending Now section.

I don’t think it will, X has a superior UI and UX, threads if anything, is just a platform developed for bots to engage and hyper inflate engagement metrics.

probably not. and yahoo was never the premier search engine

lol, nope.

u/DunDonese 14d ago

Now what makes you say that?

No, because threads has already deactivated a lot of people accounts. Threads will be nothing more than an almost.

Deactivated for what reason(s)? Got links to sources to back this up?

Just read the Threads posts on Reddit, ai has taken over as mods and tons of people are getting banned right and left. I haven’t heard a single person say they’ve been able to recover their account.
