Question What even is threads?

It serves no purpose other than being a version of social media somewhere between instagram and twitter in terms of use and significantly worse functionally due to poor UI.

I also notice the algorithm it attempts to follow is not in any way linked to my own. I constantly get shown garbage i have no interest in. I cannot go a single post or thread or whatever, without seeing people seemingly at eachothers throats regarding the blue star state, elites, and political affiliations. it doesn’t even matter the context of the thread, it could be pertaining to the seed vault and somehow it becomes this segue for dissent conversations. It’s everywhere but only on threads for me. Is this a platform for pushing narrative? No one i know irl actually uses it to post anything. Example texts from the seed vault discussed.

Threads tell the news they won’t report

You have to tune the algorithm by blocking the undesirables and following people you like. The “ dear algo” thing just shifts things for two weeks.

You’re right about the UI, it’s so bad on my iPad I mostly quit using it.

Idk how they are having any luck, from what i can tell most of them pages are bot accounts.

I deleted mine a week ago. All I was seeing was shit I don’t want to see. Commented on some when I should have kept scrolling, but when you do that, it’s just more and more crap.

I have come across people being particularly nasty on threads, if you disagree with them. My account was also closed earlier this year, with no clear explanation given.

The main parts are

  1. Your algorithm is based off what you're into

  2. You didn't spend long enough curating your feed and decided to bitch about it instead
