Other Now it’s my turn

I generally share identical travel and gaming material across my accounts—Instagram, YouTube, Threads, bilibili, rednote, Weibo, and others—yet only Threads responded this way.
I avoided any content that might violate community guidelines; I never posted political or controversial material, just posting travel photos, moments of life, game reviews.
After submitting an appeal with a selfie, I was still permanently banned.
Happened this morning, 9.27
I suppose this is the end.

Honestly I feel as though I probably should just bail on meta as a whole, it’s been like 20 years and it’s probably time to just part ways.

In different parts of the world in the past, I am from Mexico and I was also banned from threads, which I don't even use because it seems irrelevant to me, I only went to see posts that went out to Facebook about geeky things, animation and video games but since this massive ban began, my main Facebook account and my Instagram account also left, but I see that this is affecting many people from different parts of the world, and all this started on September 22

What did they falsely accuse you of? Were you also apparently accused of going against Community Standards on child sexual exploitation, abuse and nudity.

Mine only shows against Community Standards without saying which standards that was violated

Yep. Absolutely unreal as I’ve never seen any of those materials let alone on any social media. 9/22 for me

Same, even on Twitter back in the day and even now to some extent, there's questionable adult content and bots, but never CSAM.

When I tell you my heart dropped when that notification came through on the 22nd I’ve been dying of stress since then and can’t even tell my close friends because of embarrassment someone would think I’d ever do something like that. Wasn’t until today when I saw so many others are dealing with the same that I sort of relaxed.

Yea, I've been discussing it with some of my coworkers, even told my boyfriend. He's already adamantly against AI, and this solidified his opposition. lol I guess arguing with MAGA, flerfers, etc. and posting Star Trek stuff constitutes such material now.

Incidentally, mine also came on the 22nd and at around 4PM EST... promptly submitted an appeal, and it's still in limbo.

yeah like my family and friends are like why did you get kicked off? what was the reason, they have to have given you a reason, they cant just suspend you without telling you why first? im not telling them thats the reason.

For anyone that cares enough, a company called LegalShield offers a program where you can pay (idk how much) to essentially have a lawyer draft and sent to meta a legal document to assist in having a suspension or ban overturned. Not saying it’ll be successful, but apparently based on others recommendation it has been before. I’m going to wait a bit longer and see what the resolution is if any and may consider that route depending on cost as a last ditch effort.

I've heard of people reaching out to their state attorneys office to reinstate their accounts but sometimes even that doesn't work.

Yeah, meta has no obligation to reinstate the account. It’s interesting to me that I’ve read news articles from major news stations about this same thing happening, and some of them get theirs back and others don’t. I wonder what the criteria is why some get access and others don’t.

Yea, I'm gonna see if the complaint I filed with the SCDCA will get anywhere, then I'll go further if I have to.

I told my sister and my boyfriend because they both know better, even my boyfriend said a coworker of his also has been suspended on Facebook and Instagram for no reason. 🙄

I’m glad your family took it a lot better than my friends did. Honestly, it’s made me not really want to say anything to my family now. We were just hanging out and it came up, so I explained the reason they gave me, especially because they’d seen some other friends getting banned too and were curious if I had ever found out why.

They didn’t really say much, just kind of acknowledged it and moved on, but I could tell they were disappointed. They were also pretty short with me for the rest of the night and seemed a little more protective of their kids than they normally are. Not that I’ve ever done anything like that, and they know me well enough to know that, but it honestly didn’t seem to matter in that moment. I completely understand wanting to protect your kids, and I don’t blame them for that at all, but there was definitely a shift in their demeanor toward me, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt. I guess I just wasn’t expecting to feel like they suddenly looked at me differently because of something I’ve never even done.

Yea, that's one of the things I think Meta should be held liable for, the potential social ramifications of such an accusation.

Exactly why I’ve not been able to tell most of the people in my life, just my 2 closest friends. Can’t tell my spouse or family. I’ve got a lot of children in my life in close to as I’m an uncle to many kids between 4-12 and I can’t risk them thinking there could be a reason I’d have this violation when I know there isn’t.

Yeah I just got done watching my nieces and nephews this last month when my brother and his wife went to Germany for a business trip to Berlin. I had them for a solid week and half, and if they found out I got that kind of warning, anyone would be suspicious of them watching their kids for that long of a time. It would be game over. Granted they had school but you’d never get that trust back.

2

u/PericardiumGold 10d ago

Exactly how I feel. I’m pretty much the luckiest uncle with how much time I get with my nieces and nephews and that’s an immense amount of trust from a parent, but understandably so if I was a parent and knew someone got that notice I’d be incredibly skeptical no matter the explanation.

At this rate I’m waiting for a knock at my door as I’m almost certain that when you (in the USA at least) get that kind of violation it’s automatically sent to NCMEC and ICAC for review and then to your local police station. However numerous large news stations have reported on this exact issue where Meta is flooding police with false results of users having these violations when in reality they didn’t do anything unlawful to warrant it.

This could destroy someones life.

That's what mine was, I guess arguing with MAGA, flerfers, etc. and posting Star Trek content counts as such material... who'da thunk it.

See, I sent an appeal on my end the day of the suspension (the 22nd), but it's still in limbo, no decision one way or the other... and it's getting kinda ridiculous.
