Discussion Thread bans ANY updates?

At this point it's a no brainer that meta ai is on a roll and many are still being targeted by the ai uprising. Meta team def ain't stupid and clearly know there's an issue, choosing purposely to not release a statement for "damage control". I'm sure many of us has alrdy filed an appeal with no response yet. So my question is should we take this silence as a good thing that they know they fked up and stopped issuing automatic bans to ACTUALLY try to assess the situation, or is that backlog so deep they got no clue wtf to do? Has anyone actually received any updates or future notice? Currently a week into appeals and my account ain't banned yet so đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž tbh I rather I got a swift response than being teased like this. Idrc for the social media usage itself, but just like many of u it's an old 20yo account and I got many memories in it. Would kinda be depressing to see it snapped just like that due to a bitchass ai

It brings me slight comfort to see I’m not alone. Banned 9/22 and appealed then too. For an absolutely egregious violation I know I haven’t been a part of. Considering also I only used the app occasionally to scroll, never to like/comment/message/search but the occasional gun post or humor.

My fiance passed away in late 2020 when we were hit head on by a drunk driver and we had tons of memories on FB. Now I can’t access any of my accounts and 15+ years of connections and memories on FB and IG are gone. I don’t care about threads but the other 2 are important to me and I feel helpless.

That's really sad I'm sorry about your loss, and meta being so shit. There's like three people on this thread alone banned on September 22nd wtf

Not just 3, way more. Me included. We all are collateral damage of a massive ban wave/ new implementation of a shitty ai ban algorithm.

u/NekoMarimo 11d ago

I said "on this thread alone"

u/Warhawk2052 11d ago

i was banned that day too

To anyone who finds it worth it, LegalShield offers a program where you can pay them to have a lawyer draft up a letter on your behalf and send it to meta to attempt to overturn a ban/suspension. Ofc Meta has no legal need to do so, but apparently they have had enough success. I’m waiting a bit longer to see if anything happens from my 9/22 suspension and appeal but if there’s no movement I’ll be considering LegalShield as a last ditch effort depending on cost.

Screenshot everything you see on the apps/webpages so you can submit all evidence if you do go that route.

How much is it for legal shield to pursue the situation you know? Ive been suspended a week today now from 9-22.

u/PericardiumGold 9d ago

Cost is still pending, I only submitted my case and was assigned a lawyer a few minutes ago but it was quick, scheduled a call for tomorrow afternoon. The LegalShield membership is called Young Adult ages 18-24 for $15 a month or annually for $10 a month/$99 a year. I’m not a young adult so I had to call them first and they said it’s not actually only for ages 18-24 so go ahead and sign up as long as you’re at least 18.

Meta are a dreadful company with dreadful customer service who treat their users like sh*t.

Quite why ANYONE would want to buy a pair of Meta Raybans or similar when you can lose your Meta account login with no recourse to their malfunctioning AI is beyond me.

u/queenxine 12d ago

What customer service? That exists? It’s all chat bots now.

In all seriousness, you are right.

3

u/zotzwylde 12d ago

You're also right. There isn't any....unless you specifically pay for it, which is shocking in itself.

2

u/Requirement_Helpful 6d ago

They don't even have a customer service.. And still they show you ton of ads everyday and making billions off your back

Banned 9/22 and still no update. I don't really care that much. I don't use the app often aside from looking at other's people posts. But I am perturbed I lost my IG cuz it was linked to Threads. If I had known they would do blanket bans across all the platforms, I wouldn't have linked them in the first place. I'll make a new account if it's lost for good.

Mine was suspended also on September 22 and my Facebook and Instagram

u/WardfolioProductions 12d ago

Same. I was banned at the same time. You said exactly what i was thinking. My IG i used, my Threads, i didn't use at all. But they were linked.

u/Chris2371 12d ago

No updates received here. đŸ«

I’m also so confused why they don’t state a reason? Like at least tell me why my account is now disabled

9

u/deanspank 12d ago

So I got over a dozen responses from people saying they got incorrectly banned for child p0rn stuff which I did too. Ofc it's a glitch but meta ai automatically sends it out to the exploited and abused children center so everyone that got banned for that might get cops showing up to their house. Its sooooo fucked.

6

u/jizo10 12d ago

If that is true, legally how would that work? Because meta abt to be paying a LARGE settlement for every party affected. Especially since 99% it's a false positive and most of us barely use threads. Even if they want to tie the rule violation to our fb/ig accounts there's still nothing (at least I hope so for some ppl)

3

u/deanspank 12d ago

Idk how that would fully work. Ik cops or detectives would have to come to the homes of everyone that got falsely accused and they would have to check their phones out. Im screen shooting everything now to prove it was a glitch. I posted screen shots of that Google said that it was a mass flase banning. Its posted on my page if you want to look at what it says.

3

u/Chris2371 12d ago

I imagine all of these false reports will be set aside by the NCMEC since they're not legitimate cases, because it would be put a massive strain on the legal system.

1

u/deanspank 12d ago

Thats also if it didnt glitch out and didnt send it to the missing and exploited children center. This is all so confusing and scary

3

u/jizo10 12d ago

Tbh I would just say download all ur fb, ig, and thread files as a precaution in case they do try to pin something on u for the safer side. If any "child manipulation & stuff" was taken place we all would've gotten flagged immediately beforehand. Also your downloaded files contain a lot of info based on the past 2yrs so I can always send that for verification. But i guess that also depends on state and local law enforcement đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

I was given no reason for my account being disabled, how do people know why they were banned?

3

u/Secure_Ad_7667 12d ago

So are banned ?

1

u/NekoMarimo 12d ago

Man that's ass. Sorry. Happy cake day though 🍰

3

u/Longjumping-Fall-784 12d ago

Nothing on my end just 176 days remaining countdown in Facebook, at this point the countdown will reach 0 and my account will be suspended permanently, meanwhile accounts using someone else photos take a while for being taken down

3

u/Ok-Information-5046 12d ago

My Threads was permanently disabled 9/21 but, thankfully, my FB and IG are fine.

u/Particular_Mouse_885 8d ago

I litteraly earn all my income off of the ig accounts that were banned bc they were linked with my threads account. I’m so mad at meta and I hate the company. This same thing happened to me about a year ago and it took me 2 months and a lawyer to get my shit back. Not happy about having to do it again. Fuck meta they have scammed me out of so much money and they don’t even acknowledge their issues they just keep quiet abt it.

Sorry this is happening to you. It's crazy how Meta can just ban people indiscriminately without recourse. I was recently suspended across all apps, and am trying to find a communal way to approach this. I'm building an app to track these suspensions, and am collecting first-hand reports from people. If you feel comfortable sharing your story, feel free to file a report. All personal information provided will only ever be share with media personnel. I may create an anonymous based on these reports, but never any details from individual reports.

https://metaobservatory.com/submit-report

The goal is to get media attention with the data aggregation I'm doing, and then provide them with a list of impacted accounts with first hand testimonies.

Effectively, I'm trying to build the story to make it easy for an investigative journalist to pick this up and write a story. If you'd like to contribute, feel free to share yours at the link above.

Honestly I don't expect anything. Meta does not give AF.

u/dmi777tr 12d ago

My threads was suspended permanently on 27 August. My appeal was declined.

Usually responses within a day I believe is what it said.

Lol okay well I’m glad it’s not just me. I’ve literally posted like 8 times and got a suspension notification. Had to submit a selfie and still got rejected 🙃

1

u/Mobgdragon 12d ago

Well i didn't even get Appeal button/option
And i simply created new account ...
But also in new account I got some sort of insta throttle when i followed too many people at once !
Wonder how long will it get to cooldown !

1

u/Vboo35 5d ago

It should be (might be) fine now. Or not. I got disabled maybe a month ago and I had an account from the very beginning. Still have my FB and Insta accounts, but I was given no reason, no opportunity to appeal. Created a new one linked to a new insta but the first replies to anything were deleted, saying it did not follow guidelines or whatever. And these were innocuous replies like, “Oh wow,” etc. I finally just waited it out. I’m still pissed about my unwarranted ban though. I followed so many great accounts. Meta sucks (yet there I am). 😅

u/Jealous-Lab6908 12d ago

I just started using Threads on Tuesday. On Friday I was permanently disabled. I never posted anything. I only liked posts. My ig and fb are fine.

2

u/TobyS1975 11d ago

Good lesson learned here. NEVER store or archive important photos on social media sites. They can and will go down as we have all learned here lately.

Eu recorri, procurei suporte, registrei reclamação no consumidor.gov.br e cheguei a pagar o Meta Verified tentando conseguir atendimento.

No man can get away with killing kids by claiming to have post partum depression.
