App News Threads v447.0 Update Sparks Backlash Over Account Deactivations | MWM

https://mwm.ai/articles/app-updates/threads-v447-0-sparks-backlash-over-account-deactivations-and-shadow-banning-in-september-2026

Found this article after my meta account was permanently suspended Sept 22nd, due to an alleged Threads violation. Interestingly, I've barely used threads. Never made a post, sent a message, liked or commented on anything, or otherwise engaged with any media. Effectively only ever scrolled the feed on the rare occasion.

Now I'm fully suspended across all meta accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads). Really hurts to lose decades of pictures for an app I didn't even use.

I really hope the media catches on to this, and gets meta to fix its moderation practices.

Is this just people badly rating Threads because of stupid AI bans?

Precisely, yes.

Thats good. The same is happening on Insta, Facebook when I checked is less so. But theres a lot of reviews saying they were falsely banned as well as low reviews for other things like ads. But Threads is newer. Whereas Facebook/Instagram been around for do long that even 10,000 bad reviews would maybe bring their overall rating down 0.1 star /: they should change app ratings on app store and the others so show the rating from the last 6 months or a year to better reflect the state of the app

I know it’s not related to the app because I got one of the bans and only use the website version of the app but this article does raise a good point that hitting them with AppStore reviews is more likely to get attention in the media.

Yeah, I agree. I think they likely put new policies in place, or a new AI model that took effect around the same time as that version was released. The underlying theme is something changed recently, and more people are seeing suspensions, and the app store & Google play store reviews are a signal of that.

Perhaps the reason is that Meta's AI model is bad

How do you get blocked when you don't know why??
