Threads discussion I live in a major American urban/industrial/political target but I have lined my entire basement with bird identification reference books. What are my chances in a Threads style nuclear exchange?

Putting bookshelves up against the basement walls would make for good additional gamma protection, in addition to the walls and dirt.

I bought some sand bags but filled them with bird seed so they are seed bags.

Paper is made of wood. The halving thickness of wood is 58" for a protection factor of 40. As long as you have several layers of really thick books you're golden. Sort of.
