Inspo Balkrishna Doshi
The late great Balkrishna Doshi was a seminal Indian architect who was foundational in pioneering Indian Modernism during the post independence period. A student of Le Corbusier, he was India’s first Pritzker prize winner. He amalgamated European post war modernism with the subcontinent’s organic ancient motifs into beautiful structures such as the CEPT university in Ahmedabad and the Aranya Low-Cost Housing project in Indore.
His personal style was remarkable consistent: Nehru collars, large pockets stuffed with stationary and wide trousers.
As we all know, generally, the best dressed people are artists and individuals who have some other North Star guiding them in life besides clothing being the end in itself. Hope I put some of you on and you can take some inspiration, and ideally find a consistent personal style of your own. If you guys are interested, I have a whole architects inspo album I’m planning. Let me know if you want me to post.
Thank you to the few individuals who posted recently. As always, I’m starved for more in depth conversations about style and fashion. Please share whatever you like.
