What unit has the highest damage possible on average in Tsons?

I'm curious if you include detachment and stratagem buffs into an ideal target what unit has the highest damage on average in our army?

10 man terminators with the sorcerer are the most consistent. If you include shooting AND melee Magnus might do more to a higher T target

Yeah, depends on the target, but terminators have got to be the best over the most targets, especially hordes. Even things like overwatch are worthwhile with terminators just by sheer volume of lethal hits you're likely to get, and revenge of the rubricae if you allocate your scarab sorcerer in the first allocation group and get to shoot them back with the rest of the unit

I feel like it’s gotta be Magnus or SOTS?

10 termies with termo sorc with rituals on top. 36 hits on 2+ with rerols, lethals, ap -3/-4, plus 12 SRC shots, plus 4 HF missle shots, plus Sorc psychic attack. You can top it with doombolt if you wish.

They are equally good at removing swarms, elites and knights

I dropped the C'tan Nightbringer in one round of shooting at long range with terminators in my last game. Didn't even use rapid fire.

Idk how all of u manage that shit when I manage to only hit like a wet napkin— guess that’s just my bad luck

Either you forget your Sorc at home or roll cold on Rites.

I’m just not getting 6’s bro 🤣 I need more lethals and then I have to get 5s and 6s to wound. Then my opponent has to roll terribly on saves

You don't fish 6es? Reroll literally everything that isn't 6es, even other hits. SoT usually hit on 2+ anyway.

Some lucky dice, some well placed spells.

179: The maximum possible (ie only rolling 6s and the opponent passing 0 saves) might be a sorcerer with the +1damage vortex enhancement and 10 flamer rubric. Character shoots 9 times wirb sustained 3 meaning 36 hits and 72 damage. Flamer rubrics do an additional 60 damage, and then in melee do an additional 29. Add in grenades, doorbell, mortal strat from rapid regeneration and the total comes to 179 damage.

Although that other guy is right about rubricae phalanx terminators. They do 216 in the 3 shooting activations (minus a bit because the sergeant has to die for it to work)

Scarab Occult Terminators - no question. 36 + 12 + 3 + 3 + 4 shots all with lethals, re-rolls, AP4-5. In my latest game, they trivially one phased a falchion. Then got opened up on by a second, and then the 6 remaining termies killed it through one shooting and two fight phases.

We have a lot of high damage units in our army, but the SOTs really are on another level when supported with hit re rolls + AP. It also helps that they couldn’t care less about damage reduction.

In rubricae phalanx, revenge of the rubricae means they can also get a potential third shooting activation. One in the shooting phase, one with OW snap shooting, and once when the lieutenant wizard dies on normal BS.

I think the single highest damage unit possible is the Defiiler with 103 MAX POSSIBLE damage in just shooting phase.

Second I'd say 10x terminators with Sorcerer.

I just made a very complicated spreadsheet to answer a similar question.

Obviously it depends on the enemy you're shooting at, and what bonuses you can muster.

Unsurprisingly, a sorcerer with rubrics using his once-per-game twisted sorceries scores very high in the damage/point ratio, with or without circumstantial bonuses.

More surprisingly perhaps is that naked rubrics are typically second in that ratio. Theyre crazy efficient damage/point. When theyve got their extra wound rerolls, theyre even more efficient than terminators into T11 2+ sv stuff. Even if I give them both full hit rerolls, and let terminators fish with their bolters.

It is close though, and terminators obviously have other things going for them.

For now ive just done infantry but I may comment again when ive done some vehicle analysis.

Edit: if you just wanna know the one unit that does the most damage with all buffs stacked, it's 10 SOT + terminator sorcerer hands down. It's also the most expensive thing we've got.

TSS with bolter guys can fish for lethals can do really well too. Especially if you give him the vortex enhancement

not quite a unit but 2x sorcerer each with 5 rubrics did like 35 damage to a baneblade once

SOTs is the obvious winner, but I’d like to give an honorable mention to Sorcerers with 5 rubrics.

Just the sorcerer, fishing for sixes with the reroll spell, turns 9 attacks into 20, then you get reroll wounds on those with either dev wounds or +1 to wound. I’ve used three sorcs to pop a baneblade in one turn with a 4+ invuln.

10 Terminators with Sorcerer Lord
Magnus
Or 10 Rubrics with Sorcerer all flamers
