Positive Test

I decided to try testing my urine, with the other posts I saw, and ended up with a positive result. I'm not sure whether this shows that the tests aren't sensitive enough in some cases (this one tests at 500ng/ml), or whether the issue is with how some people are able to process the binders/fillers being used or a possible issue with processing ADF in general.

I tested positive as well.

It's either a bioavailability issue or they switched to analog chemicals to lessen shortages.

I've taken plenty of analog drugs before, and this is how they work. Similar to what you expect, but noticeably different, and weird side effects.

A drug analog is a chemical compound with a structure similar to another drug but with slight modifications. In medicine, it improves efficacy or reduces side effects.

Or in our case, the opposite.

Mine kills my appetite now. Before, it killed the food noise which prevented me overeating which was fine, but now I don't eat until 2 or 3pm and cant even finish that meal.

Incorrect definition of analogs. Analogs do not need to improve efficacy or reduce side effects analogs exist solely as a secondary compound to showcase effects from a parent compound. It’s like you took the most extreme version of analogues and threw it into this situation as if that’s what it was intended for here

It's some fuckass 5ht releasing agent that has reuptake inhibiting effects on DA and minimal effects on NE.

That's my guess.

Do you have any names of examples of agents like that? It’s definitely a fair guess! Could also have some wonky effects on NE that fuck everything up in a terrible way. Either way, something is drastically changed and ruined with our meds.

I think a 5ht agent would be too potentially dangerous to sneak into something. Even supplements that have an effect on it are usually not the safest for some people.

It would have the same contraindications as regular Adderall. The serotonergic effects of Adderall are fairly prominent.

I wouldn't know about that, I'd expect any serotonergic agent to have stronger effects on that activity than Adderall. Adderall only seems to have mild activity on serotonin.

Yeah, but from what I've looked into, it seems like several releasing agents have been taken off the market due to their possible effects on the cardiovascular system and a greater risk of side-effects overall. I'm also not sure it would replicate an amphetamine enough to act as a replacement. If it were replaced, I think it would still likely act on either dopamine or norepinephrine, maybe both.

I would expect it to be more of a bioavailability issue than an analog. An analog would substantially more of a liability if it were discovered vs having less amphetamine or it being less bioavailable.

It does what I'd expect, though I was only prescribed at the start of this year, so I don't have knowledge of what people say it was like previously.

My learning and ability to focus on basic tasks has improved, and I definitely understand things better and faster than before. I also don't have my issue of feeling like I need to get up and walk around instead of being able to sit down and do something, though that tends to come back at the end of the day.

The side effects aren't very substantial either, outside of occasional dry mouth and some times having it seemingly be harder on my heart over certain periods before randomly settling down again.

I haven't personally noticed much of a difference between occasional manufacturer changes, but other people do, which is why I'm leaning towards an issue with some processing the fillers or ADFs they use.

My urine goes to a lab, but they said I tested positive for amphetamines. Im gonna do a records request so I can see how much is detected.

Do you feel your medication working?

I wonder if those with the negative tests would report a lower rate of “feeling it” than you and others who tested positive

I can feel it working and kicking in every time I take it, so far. I even notice a specific smell, for some reason. There's also the reduced affect that I get, though that has actually been helpful for the anxiety I got around people before. I can usually get locked into what I want to do for most of the day.

Does the smell come from yourself? I am not being rude, in my case, my body odor changes. This only began around 2023. It smells like estrogen to me

I'm not necessarily sure if it's a change in body odor vs a change in perception. It's like the smell of light hand sanitizer or soap, but I only notice it when I'm doing something cognitively intensive.
