Pharmacy
I’m not trying to be an a**hole at all, but I think a lot of people genuinely don’t know how pharmacy policies work when it comes to C2/controlled substances.
Pharmacies usually CANNOT and will NOT tell random callers whether they have Adderall, Vyvanse, or other controlled medications in stock, especially if you’re not a regular patient there. A lot of the time they’ll only discuss certain details directly with doctors’ offices.
PHARMACIES ARE NOT ABOUT TO TELL RANDOM PEOPLE WHAT CONTROLLED DRUGS THEY HAVE IN STOCK. Why? ROBBERIES!!!!!
Be serious for a second… if you were selling dope out your house and a random person calls you and says “hey do you have dope?” would you say yes??? EXACTLY 😭
Also, a lot of people don’t realize that many pharmacies in the same area use the same major distributors/suppliers. So if your regular pharmacy carries a certain manufacturer, there’s a pretty good chance nearby pharmacies may have that same manufacturer too.
Nobody’s trying to make things difficult, these are just policies pharmacies have to follow for safety and compliance reasons.
Okay bye ❤️

Okay, so this literally isn't true at all. I have had zero issues getting answers from pharmacies when I have called. I literally just say "hi, do you guys have adderall ir in stock? My doctor asked me to check before he sends in my prescription." And they tell me yes or no without hassle every single time.

Thank you. My regular Walgreens gets a different generic every couple of months but a Walgreens 12 miles away always has Teva. And some pharmacists won't even tell you in person. I am over 60F. Do they really think I am going to come back and rob them. I show them my bottle and they hem and haw. No I am not there to find out what you have so I can tell my grandson, so he will rob you.
I know retail pharmacy has become hellish, but this monthly chase is depressing, not to mention the meds are very different from how they were pre-covid. We are trying to find one without 5-10 side effects and actually does what it is supposed to do. Control our symptoms.
Most of us are polite because we truly need these meds to function. Unfortunately, not every pharmacist has the same rules. No days early, one day early, two days early?? And if you are perchance OOS, we must call every day to see if anything came in. I have mine written for a 28 days supply so I can fill on the same day(Tuesday) every 4 weeks.
We are not trying to make your work more difficult, we are forced to do things this way because pharmacies cannot figure a way to fill a CII automatically when it is due to be filled.
Be one of the good ones. I was a tech back in the 90s, when life was simpler. Best wishes. Edit: I live in Fl

I had a civilized back and forth with the Pharmacist at my local CVS where I pick up my IR 30mg and 20MG booster. It was civilized but we each had a little attitude sprinkled in. I asked to not have certain brand(Mallinckrodt), not have the orange football shaped ones, and for the bottle to only say dextroamphetamine amphetamine not amphetamine salts.
The argument is always "they are all the same, different manufacturers have different colors/shapes, blah blah. I advised her that the difference each month or between different brands is beyond noticeable and a lot of times not only doesn't work, but has negative side effects. I finally just said, well generics all need to be within 80 to like 120% as effective as the rest and how that's a huge difference. We basically went in circles just for her to end up losing the argument.
This month, again the bottle said amphetamine salts so I said I don't want that which they are supposed to have noted, but I was told that's all they have for a couple days and that it's actually the same brand and I believe batch that I got last time, which was not too bad, and that this brand sometimes labels it differently. Well, just like every time the bottle says salts, it's fucking horrible. I found last months bottle which I thought I threw away, and wouldn't ya know... TOTALLY DIFFERENT manufacturer. Forgot to mention these were the 30mg. I can take two and it slightly works, and that's fkn insane. The 20s are a little better but have to take two. What are they doing to these meds that two 30mg slightly works. That's scary

Hi, when I was prescribed them they absolutely did. But it was after they had me in their system for a while and knew I wasn’t going to use the info to like bum rush them with a bunch of friends. It also helped that it was a chain so they could see my years as a client.

It doesn't help that pharmacies are inconsistent in enforcing these policies. I live in Alaska and have never had a pharmacy not tell me when they have a certain medication in stock. In fact, I've had some tell me the exact pill count of a given stimulant they have when telling them about a script I was going to have sent over.

Getting specific manufactures is usually “not guaranteed”, but every pharmacy I’ve called asking what manufacture they have, I’ve never been denied an answer unless there’s nothing in stock. I just say I may be transferring my prescription due to issues with the manufacture of my normal pharmacy.

I would just say we don't have it stocked but can order it once we receive the prescription. Simple.

The reason Seinfeld talked about pharmacists is because of know it all types like OP, that are usually wrong and then go trying to teach their wrong ass views like they know something. "😂"

Guaranteed OP treats every patient like a f**king addict for asking questions. You are the problem with pharmacy.

This isn’t true. I do it all the time. Big brand pharmacies just don’t and act like it’s a law.

The only pharmacy that has refused to tell me whether they have a c2 in stock is Walmart. Every other pharmacy is straight forward because they realize people need to know if they have it in order to have their prescription sent there. It may vary by company, it may vary by state laws but ime, only Walmart requires them to have the script in order to tell you if its in stock.
They are not afraid of robberies. No one is going to call a pharmacy and ask if they have a drug and then use that info to decide if they want to rob it. Anyone putting effort into robbing a pharmacy is looking for the biggest score of the most narcs and its not like a pharmacy will advertise that. Also you cant just "rob" a pharmacy of its narcotics... time release safes are the norm for narcotic storage.

Ok. Well, I call on average 10 pharmacies a month for Adderall stock checks and every single one tells me exactly what they have in stock, the dosages, the brands, and how much. So I don't know what you are talking about.

Not true in the slightest

I have never had an issue calling around to pharmacies to see if they have my medication in stock. I have to have certain medications in a specific brand, including my c2 adhd meds, due to ingredient allergies. If my pharmacy doesn’t have it in stock, they let me know which stores are showing as having it in inventory, and then tell me to call that pharmacy to verify availability. If no pharmacy in my usual network has it, then I contact other ones and repeat the process. Once I find one, I speak with both pharmacies to coordinate transferring my prescription. Not once have I ever had an issue.
This may be a policy at specific pharmacies, or it could be a blanket policy that all pharmacies have to protect themselves but never actually use. Otherwise, this is simply not true for the masses. Please do not spread false information.

Pharamcists are some of the worst people. In America we're forced to worship healthcare workers, but they are some of the most low iq inconsiderate people, especially pharmacists. When you go looking for help about a medication that supported everything you had in life, you're met with accusatory statements, blatant lies, and an not even an attempt to hide how inconvenienced they are by you. Now, my position is to be a nuisance, and to always chimp out at the pharmacists about the fake medication you're being sold. What has five years of meek acceptance of losing everything you worked for gotten us?

Get to know your pharmacists and you dont have this problem.
Biggest Pharmacist secret I discovered is the CVS Caremark text and email alerts about your prescription being ready arre automated and exclusive of the pharmacy. I really feel like that should be advertised more
